I'd have paid to see that pic.

Like 5th wheel flat deck trailer with a working hot-tub on it?

Default Badger

2016-01-02: Badger Lake - East Outlet - 12 to 14" ice. Couple trucks on the ice; we walked.
Sunny, -5°C, calm. Gorgeous day but pike fishing extremely slow.

Be careful on Lakes in the Boyle area, heard a truck went in on Saturday at Chump Lake between Skeleton and North Buck. Luckily only in shallow water so they can recover it easy enough but reports of 13" ice all over that lake and they broke through a spot only 7" thick. Do your homework everybody and identify any potential current areas and proceed with upmost caution. The cold weather coming in now will surely help a lot but the ice sheets on a number of lakes have varying thicknesses and it's not uniform throughout. Stay safe all and err on the side of caution

I travelled from the boat launch to the narrows checking the thickness at several spots along he way and the thickness was 13-15 inches at each point. I was in my Ranger but there were several trucks on the ice. The ice may be thinner than that but I didn't find it.

Pigeon has changed a lot with little to no snow. I measured nothing under 15 inches and saw 16 more commonly. Very hard ice too. I tried both North and South sides of the lake. Even found 18 inches on the South side.

I believe it was at the west end of the lake that he dropped the front end in. A shallow water spot but must be some current there.

I always wanted to try that lake but usually drive by and end up at Buck. Is there any keeper size to the perch there or are they smaller than 8" ?

I wonder how the ice is at Buck ?
Was at Skeleton last week and the ice is about 12" Lots of 6" and smaller perch. Saw a few on the ice in the 8 - 10" mark but it was slow fishing. No Perch for us.

Pigeon north side, just outside of mulhurst Bay was pretty consistent at ~16-18" of clear, only found one spot around 14.5" but 5 holes around it in a ten foot circle were of the first rough measurements. Measured ice in 10fow all the way out to 28.

I've fished Chump a number of times over the years, both ice and open water
Had luck with keeper size perch 10+ years ago (8-10") but last few years, 6-7" seems to be the norm
Lots of perch in that lake, same with Pike, most of the perch seem to be stunted though from what we saw on our cameras a couple weeks ago. Biggest perch we caught all day was maybe 5"-6"?
I did catch a decent little Pike though, no measure or weight, but I'd guess 3lb'er
Ice was 14.5" where we drilled, walked out about 200 yards toward the island from the public beach, 15 FOW

Default CVR ice

Heading to CVR tommorow....Plan on driving on the west side. Based on the cold snap and being out a couple weeks ago, I would think the ice is around 15" or more. Can anyone confirm or deny this

I read someone drove across, I'd think it's safe. It's around shores where you'll find any variances, yet CV has been pretty consistent.

Fished out from the campground on Jan 1st. My buddy drove his half ton on. There was probably 8 vehicle's driving around on there. I wasn't driving my 1 ton on. Ice was 12inchs out from campground in 6 feet and 12 feet of water. I used my tape measure to check thickness.

I also found ice was averaged around 16" however 2" of that is frozen flood water or "white ice". Did find ice that was only 12" (including 2" of frozen flood water or "white ice") on the south side of Pigeon. One should still be cautious.

CVR was about 18" today....Nice to drive on for the first time...Had a few pike come by and had two of them take my smelt and dropped it...Had a minnow on a Tube jig and thought he had it, seen him take a swallow and missed him as well. None landed and had one walleye come swim by and not interested...

Wind chill sucked today
