Jim..
It's all i do as well. Plastic one litre bottle is light and holds a decent amount. Never used any filtration or anything either

You're nuts Phil !!!

I got beaver fever in the Yukon in 2003 or 04. I was in rough shape, finished the hunt but left of few pairs of smart wool base layer bottoms in those hills

Took me about 2 months after getting home to not cringe when I had to sneeze lol

Everything I drink now out there gets filtered, I'll never take a chance again.

Been drinking out of mountain streams since I was old enough to hike them. Same with my whole family. Never had an issue at all. Key is to not drink static water that is sitting. Any moving stream I have ever drank out of has had clear clean water bro.

Actually , beaver fever is caused by Giardia ... A protozoan not a bacteria. Cryptosporidium is also a protozoan ... They are spread by fecal contamination of water , usually stagnant water but not always ... Fecal contamination is from ungulates usually

IMO, the water up top is better than anything you can buy. There is nothing like cold mountain stream water. But if your worried, and water treatment system would work. Don't pack water in, it will take up to much weight. find a stream or creek and use it, Treated or not.
