any of those caliber a is enough gun except for the 260 I'm not sure just because I have no experience with it. Not saying it won't do it but not certain. I would say what ever one u feel most comfortable with go for it.

Depending on the terrain and expected shot distance you expect, you may reconsider. If you really want to use the 338 for no other reason than because you want to, good enough. I've never shot it, the 300 WM, or the 260.
My choice would come down to the 7mm RM or the 308 simply due to personal experience. I like the 7mm RM for its flat shooting, but I carry my 308 much more easily. I've never had an opportunity at an animal at over 200 yds where I hunt, so for me, the 308 would be my first choice. If I was going to a new area, maybe I'd use the 7mm RM.

Got more than a few friends who use big stuff for moose, it's all good!
If you plan on using your Lapua, go with a stouter bullet than a Berger.

Curious to know where you're hunting moose at? My moose hunting experience has been shooting at 100 yards.

If it were me and I wasn't going to shoot my moose off my deck I'd take the 300 or the 7mm. Longest shot I've made on a moose was around 300 yards and the shortest was around 25. Moose are stupid and easy to shoot. Lol

Moose
Longest shot I have taken a Moose at is less than 100 yards. Last one was about 10 yards. Make sure you know how to hit them short too.
All my Moose hunting was WMU 214, WMU 314 and WMU 412.

I've shot 4 or 5 with a 7mag and 160's and haven't needed more gun. They usually go 25-35yrds bout it. Moose and mule deer are wusses.
Dad smacked one with a 7mag 150tsx last year and it took two steps backwards and fell over.
I have a couple 260's and wouldn't be scared packing them either, but my next ones gonna feel some 8mm mag lead.

I like what I like, take what you like but if your inside 300 make that Berger fly true or you will loose a lot of meat ! They are a devastating killing bullet.
As for the 260 I have taken several elk and moose with the 25-06 all quick and easy kills.

Any of your rifles will work just fine, pick the right bullet and you are good to go. I would pick the rifle based on the method and terrain you are hunting in.

In all seriousness, if you have a 338 Lapua, why not use it. How many people can speak firsthand of shooting a moose with that rig? Not many.

All are very capable calibres to take a moose with, question is what are you the most capeable with? Answer that and you have your rifle/cartridge moose combination.
Good luck!

I have been using a Parker Hale 308 for longer than some of you have been alive. Federal Premium 165 only. Elk, moose, deer, whatever. Just point it somewhere in the general direction and the bullet always seems to find the target. While it is nice to have a selection of firearms to choose from, if you are not 100% comfortable with it in ANY and Every situation, your success rate will be lower. Pick one (not the 260) and become one with it.
The best place to shoot a moose is in the back of your truck, There is no such thing as a small moose.

Yea you sold me there....i saw this video in youtube about this guy hunting elk in the mountsins with a savage 10BA 338 LM and ive beeb inspired ever since.... my sako TRG its heavy..but me being a fit junkie i welcome the weight....plus i practise almost every other weekend with it out to 1300 yards at the edson range....so im thinking this is the one.

Im originally from bc, have several, several moose harvests under my belt, and ive had 1 AB harvest and in on 3 other AB harvests- All 300wm. A 300 win mag 180 grain anything has been a 1 shot delivery everytime. Bigger power, bigger waste, a bad shot is just that. Find a moose, give him 180 in the engine room and he will crumple. A lapua is just an overkill waste imho.
anything in the 30 cal 180 grain is perfect. seems i cant stress that enough

My friend shot a WT doe with the same rig at 80 yards. If you want to use it go ahead, use a better bullet than the Berger though. It may work well for targets, but is much to fragile for hunting with such a cartridge. I would use a TSX if I were you.
The issue I would have is that the TRG 42 is ergonomically designed to be shot from the prone position. It doesn't matter how fit you are, that is going to be one clumsy bush rifle. Shooting from field positions other than prone will be unstable and if you're going through thick bush it will be frustrating. If you want to use it just for the hell of it, go for it. I would be taking whichever one of my rifles was the lightest and most traditional though, if it were my hunt.

I like to tell the story of my father-in -law when he was a boy. The local natives would borrow his dads 44-40 lever action to go moose hunting. He would hand them 5-6 shells. They would give all 4-5 back and say " only want to shoot one moose" Any caliber will work if you are a good hunter.

338 LM with 300gr bergers sounds like it sounds - a lot of bloodshot bergers!
have you shot moose with any of the others before?
