Default Big Waterton Park Ram

I happened to run across this guy up in the Waterton Town Site yesterday. He is the best one I have ever seen up there, and possibly the best one I have ever seen on the hoof. I had a very good look at him and got some video too with the Iphone, which was all I had with me. I am guessing him at 200 net B&C or better. But I wanted to get some more opinions. Showed the pics to a couple friends and one of them did some math and figures he could possibly go 205 or better gross score.

Holy crap! Where did he come from. I haven't seen him around before. But ya I'd guess he's up there definitely high 190's maybe 200

I haven't seen him before either. He just showed up yesterday and was chasing a couple ewes around.

Sheesh! he looks nothing like the usual waterton rams. But yeah i'd say right at 200. Giver or take a couple inches either way. Wish he would have come out during the season!

Before the die off in '83 there was quite a few busters around down there. That ram is absolutely gorgeous and very good to see after all these years trying to come back. Cranker and high 190's for sure.

Didn't TJ write an article about searching for a 200 inch ram a couple years ago? I wonder if he will see these pictures and weigh in on the conversation?

Great pics of a magnificent ram, thanks for sharing, much appreciated. I truly hope a ram of this caliber survives to pass on his genetics. The guides are working long and hard for the holder of the Minister's tag and are out there daily trying to find a ram like this. Hope he stays in the park. If he lives more than one of us can see an appreciate him for what he is, an awesome ram.

Can you elaborate on the "die-off in '83"?

Agreed 100%!!

Before the sheep lungworm / pneumonia complex hammered Waterton's population, there were many huge old Warriors like this one and better. The old abattoir there is adorned with many a skull that would re-write much of the top end of the record books if entered.

Damn Pleasing to see their genetics survived, and is being carried forward once again!

Hoping for a very long life filled with LOTS of Ladies for this Fine Old Bugger!

Cheers,
Nog
