I use mine on the bbq a lot. Maybe that could be an option. I also use them on a fire. The ash will make the potatoes taste better haha

I have used glass top for cooking with cast for years. Never heard of what you are describing. I think the issue with glass tops is the cast scratching the glass top. I sanded every cast piece I had with a random orbital sander, cooking surface and bottom, before using them. No scratches.

I would research what you have said, it sounds suspect to me.

Joking aside I did a prime rib at 170 deg a couple months back and can say it was by far the best roast I have ever tasted. There's something to be said about low and slow temp cooking.

I have 2 cast iron pans that I tried using on our glass stovetop.

One was quite flat and true and worked decently well on the glass top.

However the other pan had a slight rock on a flat surface and it seemed to create a situation where the burner kept cycling to max heat and immediately off. It felt wrong

So I started using those pans more for baking-I found a great recipe for Skillet Cardamom Banana Bread that bakes in a 300F oven for 45 minutes.

Low temp but extremely effective.

Come summer they go on the BBQ side burner for some high heat big flame antics

Here is how Bobby Flay does it...www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR1vtTTlKVU

I will tell you though the best is still a nice rib steak on the grill of a wood fire pit.

I use the same, by far the best steaks I have made at home. Basically cooking for Dummies and you can do your nails while your food cooks.
