Default Need help

I started to trap coyotes with the leg hold trap, approved Bridger #3. The dog are coming within a foot of the dirt hole sets and turning around. The traps are well bedded down covered with saran wrap and then peat moss. I do wear wader and tarp on the ground to minimize my scent. The bait must be working as the dogs are coming close.I do use and attractant at the dirt hole. Please tell me what I am doing wrong, those dogs have good nose,

Rod

Set your trap where the dogs are standing....how far from your dirthole are you setting ??

And maybe you are using TOO much scent and its overpowering to them.

The trap is bedded 8 inches in front of the hole and offset 2 inches. The dogs are staying in the quad tire track, or on the narrow game trail.

So are they ignoring your set completely by staying on the trail....just passing by.....or are they deliberately avoiding it ??

Kinda sound's like you might have a small scent contamination on your trap's.

They actually stop and in some instance turn around and went back in the bush. I will re-boil the traps just in case. As for the attractant I did 2 scent
post (flat set) but never had action there. We had fresh snow there on friday,my partner should be back tonight. Without snow its pretty hard to study what happening.

Try some bait down in the hole so they have to work for it. Beaver works great
