Yes was fishing from shore, many places to fish from the shore just follow the lake around and you will find many places to fish from shore

Yep, wab was on fire on sunday. I havent been since opening day, keep catching hammerhandler after hammerhandler and got fed up and went to deeper waters. Market this big girl in 20ft suspended at 15ft. took 3 passes to get her to hit. Also saw another, bigger than this on my finder, but couldnt get her to hit, bla. Was an awesome afternoon thou. Enjoy the pics,
ps: was by myself, so this is the only pic i got of her, kinda missed the head and tail. the release was perfect.

yeah, thats just sad. And people are just too busy worrying about "wheres the proof...did you throw there gear in the water shawn?"and other childish arguements to actually think about HOW TO STOP THE GUY HAULING GARBAGE BAGS FULL OF HAMMER HANDELS OUT OF A 0 LIMIT LAKE

Next time you see this guy, take pics of him and record his license number. I've done that when I seen a guy poach a white sturgeon. Was fishing the Fraser when I seen this guy stuffing a 4 footer into the back of his van, but too late, I had already seen him. He tried threatening me, and I told him to just try it, and he would be peeing blood for weeks.(helps when you know martial arts).

The reason for this as I understand is not tainted fish (consumption issue) but it is more an issue of the fish not breeding as they should in those waters....so as soon as that lake becomes a retention lake (catch and keep limits) then the quality is going to tank. If you like catching fish be glad there is a 0 limit on that lake. Cause when/if it does open those nice big ones will be a thing of the past....

There is a 0 limit for all species at Wabamun because there is very limited successful spawning. The small pike people are catching now were hatched in 2004.

The court in Stony Plain gives penalties of $1,000/fish as the starting point. Often licence suspensions are handed out as well....

Two weeks ago 1 guy avoided a suspension by entering a guilty plea for 1 ling and 2 whitefish and got a $3,600 fine.

Another guy went to trial and got $500 for using a barbed hook and $8,000 for his half of 14 whitefish and 1 pike, plus a 2 year licence suspension.

Both cases from Wabamun Lake.

Perhaps you should ask the question why there is 0 limit at wab.

I think you guys are missing what oliver is saying. Poaching is bad enough, but when you do it on a lake that is 100% c&r, it's worse. Especially when the lake is at a 0 limit because of the lack of the ability to maintain healthy populations (ie. fishing pressure = fishery collapse). I personally don't know if this IS the case for Wabamun but I've heard from several people.

Also...a picture of a guy carrying a garbage bag doesn't exactly prove anything other than a guy was at Wabamun...some time...carrying a garbage bag. That bag could be full of fish or it could be full of garbage the guy picked up off the shore.

I know it was fish because the dip**** TOLD US it was fish...really...you poach 10 and then ADMIT it?? This is either very brave or very stupid.

Oh, and thanks for the spots Shawn. I'm sure Jason will tell you today but he got a 7 lbs pike shortly after you guys left.

in hind sight I should of clarified.
