That must have been one of last year's, at least; this year's pups are still in the 20lb range. Great photo, by the way!

Great pic. However, Brian, is there any chance that you may have posted the wrong one? The caption says, "Young wolf pup s out exploring." To me, that looks like a lactating female. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

He's got a Nikon D70, lots a zoom, zoom. And one of the best cameras in its class.
Spectacular picture Brian. I'm guessing the pups were close behind? I love black wolves. What general location were the wolves, if you mind sharing? Nothing specific, and no big deal. I know its sometimes impolite to ask publicly.
Thanks for sharing, I'd love to see more. Keep it up.

Nothing more impressive, than a nice wolf pic. Looks like there is a fair amount of grey hair showing up. Make a cool trophy, with a little age.

Smoky River valley and is this years pup. Look how high it's standing in relation to the weeds. No more than 30 lbs. Yes it was D70 but I was only 10 yds away.

I don't think those are teats. I think it's just holding it's rear left leg up. If Brian was only 10 yards away and he says it was a pup, I would bet that it's a pup.
Very cool picture. thanks for posting.

Upon a second look, h&f, you are totally correct. I presumed that it was a zoomed out pic, and that area of the belly is what caught my eye first. My appolozies to you, Brian, and again, many thanks for an incredibal pic. 10 yards???? Amazing!

That is a great pic Brian. Every time I see wolves their going flat out at 500 yrds away. I've seen packs up to 15 strong in the Smokey valley. I hope you get a few this fall.
