What do you name your rifles. Or better yet who do you name them after?

Mine came with names...Remington, Winchester, Browning, Marlin......

I had a hard enough time coming up with 'John' for my son's name, and he is named after my grandfather.....

Most swords are named in Japan...

As for firearms, I usually refer to the caliber/gauge and barrel configuration/action type as the "name" for the gun.

It's ok to give your rifle a name, or even to talk to it.
If it starts talking back to you, you should let someone know.

They get called by manufacturer and / or caliber, if that becomes insufficient I will need to reconsider the addition.

My buddy names his. I can’t recall all of them but a few.

Mjolnir(Thor’s Hammer) - 300WM Christensen
The Hulk - 338 Lapua Sako TRG
Power of The Creed(Power of The Christ theme maybe?) - 6.5 Creedmore AI

I named my .257 Wby “Roy”. That is all.

Depends if I use it for work or not. Named my first rifle while in basic training Brandi. Since then every rifle shotgun pistol and light machine gun I’ve relied upon to protect my life or someone else’s as a soldier and law man has held the name Brandi. I don’t name my hunting or recreational firearms though. Vehicles now that’s a different story.
