Anyone watching how our Spring 2015 Alberta newborn deer are making out?
How is our spring population of newborn deer making out?
Whitetails?
Bark Eaters?...Mind you I have seen some with their head in the old grain overflow granary.

Seen 3 cow moose this weekend around Barrhead area. 2 of the cows had single calves, and the third was dry.

Most all doe on my trail cams have a fawn. Good to see.
Also the cow elk have 1 and 2 calves too, they wintered well I'd say.

I have a WT doe hanging around my yard andlarge shelter belt with a pair of twins ! Thry sure are cute.

Deer numbers in our area are way down but the does and fawns are faring well this spring!

Here's a tip!
Instead of running yourself ragged trying to find them and getting into fights with fellow Bulls, you can always put down a salt lick, they will come to you.
Went over the regs this afternoon, you can not do that if you are hunting cows, but it's completely legal for mating purposes!

Seeing lots of single whitetail fawns and few twins , fine by me , we have lots of deer arounf here . The ones in the hayfields didn't fare so well , much like previous years . Antelope seem to have a decent hatch , not many twins but at least there are some singles .

I have 3 cow moose on camera with calves , two of which have twins. Im not seeing very many does with fawns in my area yet but I expect they are around just not showing on camera yet. Also seeing many cow elk with nice looking little ones.

Most does I've seen this year have had atleast 1 fawn. Been great weather for them. Keep pounding those predators everyone.

No kidding.....? Another case of hunting induced genetic selection? 
West side of Calgary, the little ones are still still spending quite a bit of time separated from the dams. Evaluating doe/fawn ratios will be much more accurate in a few weeks.....

Correct .. but I think that coyotes are the hunters doing the selecting .  What started out as twins in the lopers are now singles .

I almost stepped on a newly born whitetail fawn a few weeks ago while fly fishing in K COuntry. I must have spooked the doe and then I found the baby right there by my feet and she had no idea what I was.

We as deer and elk and moose hunters have to do our part in the predator control dealing with those coyotes and wolves im an avid predator caller/ hunter and trap them in the winter to which im sure there are alot more of you guys just like me and the fur prices are great so its not like all our efforts are not rewarded, there are great rewards such as a nice fur cheque at the end of the season and more of the game we chase surviving the wolf massacre and the damn coyotes eating all of our fawns. And this year ill be goin on a cougar hunt they put a serious dent in the deer, moose and elk populations aswell as there numbers are at record highs in the past couple years!

Just came back from a pack trip up the Clearwater river in wmu 420. seen 7 or 8 mulie does and about 15 whitetail does and none of them had fawns with them. Only seen 1 cow elk, was ear tagged and radio collared, no calf with her. did see a couple impressive whitetail bucks

Im pretty sure there is a good cougar and wolf population around the clear water thats alot of animals to see with out even one fawn

Newborn ungulates generally don't make out in their first year. None of the ones I saw this year anyway.

I have only seen one moose with one calf the mule deer in my area have zero fawns left from what I have seen and whitetails are down to one fawn. I do have many cougars bears wolf in the area.
