These are not spincasting rigs, spincasting reels are the closed face pushbutton thingys. My favorite spinning rig is 7' uglystick light with a Daiwa BG 15 on it. A little clunky compared to some of my other rigs but I'll put it against anything you want for durrability including most baitcasters.

7 foot ugly lite with quantum snapshot and 30 pound powerpro. caught everything from perch to big pike on it. 60 pound flouro leaders for the pike. second spool is 6 pound mono for fussier fish. save me a couple broods in Phyllis, may hit it one day this week dont think many people have seriously used a spincast reel for a long time, they probably turned more people off fishing than getting skunked every trip!

Neat to see that there are so many Ugly Sticks in use!

Here are my favorites for the sizes that I have.

I own two Ugly Sticks, one 5'9 foot medium - light for small rivers. On it is a Pflueger with 20lb Suffix Braid.

My second Ugly Stick is a 7 foot medium action with a Shimano Symetre reel laced with 30 lb Power Pro Braid.

My big river, Salmon, rod is a Shimano Scimitar medium - heavy, fast action with another Symetre reel with 40lb Power Pro.

I really like the Symetre reels with the fighting drag. When a 20lb+ fish turns and runs upstream away from me, I can snap open the fighting drag and give her a little more room. Then when the run is done, snap it back closed and get to bringing in dinner!

All of my spinning gear has braid on it now, that I run to a swivel and then a Fluorocarbon leader off of the swivel. Gives me the invisibility of mono, but the strength and feel of braid.

my favourite spinning set up is a 8' 6" quantum tour edition pt matched with a shimano sustain 2000. its loaded with 20 lb suffix and ready to go for pretty much anything. i really enjoy the longer rod, especially when shore fishing.

I've always liked longer rods, from shore its a no brainer but even in a boat having a long rod is nice, when a big fish runs under your boat its much easyer to get your line around to the right side of the boat.

Default I Believe

I believe the question was "SpinCast" !!

Johnson Century or Rhino. Both good inexpensive reels.
Daiwis tend to tangle. Abus are "hard" to maintain.

I've got a Pfueger Underspin that works great.

Use a crappie rod if you shore fish. The long length is great for long casts.

Cool

#1 Shimano Stimula paired with Shimano AX2000
#2 Rapala Magnum 4 piece paired with Shimano Sienna with 10lb test mono OR Shimano Syncopate with 5lb power pro
#3 Shimano Voltaeus UL paired with Shimano Syncopate with 5lb power pro

The Stimula combo has caught me the most fish
Rapala is a great rod for backpacking, its caught me some trouts
the Voltaeus is my new trout setup.. its still a virgin.... Haven't got out for trout yet this season..

My two most used ones are my trout rod, which is a 6'6" Medium/Fast Shimano Sojourn with a 1000 size Shimano Sidestab and 6lb(I think) Fireline Crystal.

The other one that gets the next most use is probably the ol' 7' light action Ugly Stik that I sometimes use for chucking hardware on the NSR.

Though this season I've been getting into the baitcasters and I've been using them more often than the spinning gear for the most part

for the rivers:
1. quantum pulse 30 spinning reel with a shimano voltaeus 6'6" spinning rod.

for the lakes:
1. quantum energy pti-b 10 spinning reel with a fenwick hmg 6'6" spinning rod

right now im trying to decide whether to wait and get a quantum smoke spinning reel when it comes out or to get a quantum tour edition pti-b 20 spinning reel.

other than the spinning reels i have 2 baitcasters.

My fishing setup is made up of a 2004 berkely IM6 lighting rod paired with a 2005 Pfluger president spinning reel. The setup has held up to 6 years of abuse and still works great though a little scuffed up.

I'll try to post some pics later.

I just bought a St Croix Triumph...it felt really nice in the store but I haven't tried it out yet...I'm looking forward to hooking some trout with it (6 1/2, light action) if the water levels ever settle...
