Default Diesel Prices

I filled up at the Coop in CAlgary this morning and the price was 129.9. I guess as long as we keep buying it they will keep soaking us. Guess the price of food will go up again. Hope all those oil people enjoy their christmas bonuses that we are paying for.

Not me. The diesel will sit in the garage at these ridiculous prices. I don't generally have garage trucks, but at .30-.40c less I will drive the 3/4t gas job all winter long. I don't mind keeping the miles off the new truck, it just entices me to strive for better mileage and not drive like a idiot. I have better things to spend my money on than overpriced fuel. $1.029 today in Lloydminster for regular and .4c back at can tire.

Good gawd, paid 132.9 in Squamish, no good reason BC is only 3c higher than Calgary!

Our Wrangler was filled at .98 per liter today. Thats all fine and dandy if one has an alternative. Think of the people that need to make their living via diesel fuel though. Fricken terrible......

Diesel prices are absolutely ridiculous here as well and did what Ken is doing. I went and bought a 98 Suburban, 2500 4x4 with a 350 and have parked both diesels for the winter.

The only way we are going to get those guys that sit in those big towers in Calgary to bring down the prices is to stop buying the product. Let's see we put it up and people are still buying just as much so lets put it up agian.

LOL. Diesel makes this country go round. Do you realize how much is transported in this country with diesel being the primary fuel? Joe public couldn't put a dent in it if he decided to boycott diesel...

Makes sense and all but don't hold your breath artie. I ain't about to increase my yearly transportation costs by 20-30% to make a point. I'll just continue cardlockin' my 1200 litres a month and havin' a heart attack once a month.

She's about break even about now for me with my volume discount, then factor in the 40% fuel saving when trailer towing. Half my mileage is towing

Sometimes the principal is worth it

People are emotional.

I have 2 vehicles both paid for, my old chev 350 and my wife has a Grand Prix. When I go back and forth to work I drive my truck, and if we all go together we take the car. Having no payments helps.

Yup, new diesel pickups or how to turn $70,000 into $7000 in 7 yrs flat. If I didn't need one to make a living I'd never buy a new vehicle again.

Vehicles are a terrible investment. Like you said if you need one to make a living that's one thing, but for cruising around in to look cool it's awfully expensive.

I buy vehicles about 10 years old or older for $3000-$6000. Pay cash and keep them runnin at Canadian tire or bucks auto. Sometimes it's a bit of a headache but so is that $700 a month payment for a depreciating vehicle.

About 6 months of the yr diesel is cheaper than gas, 2 months roughly the same and the rest more expensive. You're gonna have to do the math.

One of my kids drives a 20 yr old TDI, damn thing gets about 60 mpg

There was an explosion at the Co op refinery in Regina today, the diesel price will probably go up again!

I take a drive and go shopping once a month in Montana. 100 gallon aux. tank on board and last trip diesel was 3.29/gal(.86/liter) Red dye and 3.75/gal(.99/liter) road taxed diesel. Saves me a lot of money on fuel. I asked the Canadian customs and they said no tax if it goes into the motor from where its stored. Slip tank would be additional 5 % IF you declared it.

Serious savings there...wonder what they would think of a tanker that fed diesel straight to the motor?? Bulk buy perhaps......

Maybe, ain't gonna hyperventilate over it. I think it depends on the previous months volume, I've seen it as low as 6 and a high of 11.
