Default 300 Win Mag - Suggestions

Hi All,

I've been thinking about buying a 300 Win Mag. I currently shoot a Tikka 7MM which I have enjoyed, however I feel like it may be a bit too light of a gun to enjoy shooting in 300 WM.

Most of the hunting will be back country in B.C. so I'd still like to be conscious of that in terms of weight, etc...

Any suggestions for what I should consider in the $1,000 range?

Thanks!

Buy a Tikka Varmint or wood or laminate stock. My son started shooting a Tikka 300 wm Hunter when he was 14. The recoil didn’t bother him and was less than my Tupperware stocked 300wm

This, if you really want a new rifle in 300. Honestly your 7 is pretty close for practical purposes. I have a T3 300 Win in a Boyd’s laminate. Leupold dual dovetails and a Conquet 3-9. It is a couple ounces over 8lbs. Recoil is stout but not too bad. I like the Boyd’s stock better the factory laminate due to the slimmer wrist and forearm feel.

If you can find one.......a Tikka M695 .
They usually go for your budget.
There magazine length is larger then your T3.
I bring this up because I own both and the m695 is a much better rifle all around.

Yes a 695 is a very nice gun. Good suggestion.

That is good feedback... personally I'd love to pick up another Tikka because I think they are one of the best guns around.

Agreed. I took the plastic stock off my T3 300wm and pillar bedded it into a Boyd’s laminate. The rifle shoots great and have no problem shooting 20-30 stiff hand loads off the bench.

I mentioned a m695 tikka........
Another option is a used sako a7. I have two of those and I'm very happy with them. Also should be in your budget. If you like your T3 you'll really like a sako a7
