Sensible post uglyelk.

Could you clarify this: "I suspect we will be vigilante in routing out threats to our society."

Re: vigilant or vigilante? The meanings are diametrically opposed.

You're so much in denial it's scary.

We are at war with a Caliphate.
They have been stating loud and clear their intention.
Thing is, moderate people like you don't want to acknowledge that we are at war.

We still have no confirmation on the identity of the attacker(s) today. I'm glad you aren't in control of this country.

Now more than ever the country needs to band together. Our military members are being murdered on our own soil, our parliament under attack. Lets put the partisan stuff aside and stand up as CANADIANS and tell these scumbags that we will not be intimidated.

Remembrance Day is in two weeks. Show up in force, staying home will show these POS that they have won and we are scared. I'll be going as I always do, in uniform, boots and brass shone and wearing my medals proudly on my chest. My wife and children will be at my side. Lets show them that we are united and are not afraid.

I feel a rage today that I have not felt since my last tour in Afghanistan.

We need to crush this.

Moderate voices.....Are you kidding me? We are at war and we have been attacked on our own soil for goodness sakes. You can't negotiate with radicals. The only thing that they'd settle for is for Canadians to convert to Islam and adopt sharia law.

It's only prudent to increase security, despite the costs. I'm not talking about declaring martial law, I'm talking about increased vigilance and people's ability to defend ourselves from attacks such as this.

What am I willing to leave for others? NOTHING! Go all in and totally annihilate ISIS.

Default Highlander Fallen

MY thoughts and prayers go out to the Highlanders family, unit and friends, just heard that he had died from his wounds. Its time to get serious boys...good on the old sergeant at arms for schwacking the shooter.

and, before the day is even over, many on the news tweets are demanding the long gun registry back and a debate in parliament over gun laws.....oh boy, here we go.....

We weren't at war, until yesterday, when we sent our jets to bomb some nutjobs on the other side of the planet.

Nutjobs with zero force projection capability.

It's a shame that in our national rush to avoid "doing nothing" we also avoided responding sensibly.

When ISIS finally does figure out a way to "respond" to us, let us not delude ourselves as to who threw the first punch.

That video from the inside of Parliament was just stunning.
Seemed a shotgun went off followed by a huge barrage of smaller guns.

No one knows who did this. We will get it straight and there will be hell to pay following.

Looks like a great and fast response to this.

Thoughts, prayers and thanks to the family of the Solider.
Rest in Peace.

Keep safe Canadian Soldiers.

Really. So their telling like-minded people to attack all westerners (that includes Canada fyi) was not in effect a declaration of war? What is a declaration of war in your world?

Just because the suspects descriptions were long hair and possibly Native does not change the fact that these supposed recruits for ISIS are not only Muslims's now....They are recruiting anyone, any religion, any individual that is unhappy and will go train and fight with these terrorists.....

That was my thought, too, but I don't get it.

Why would the shooter bring a shotgun?

Strikes me as an odd choice.

I am a firefighter/EMR. I haven't served in the military, but I think it's safe to say that most people in emergency services feel we are in an extended family together.

Having attended quite a few emergency scenes over the years, one of the things are are trained for is not giving in to developing tunnel vision. Firefighters especially are known for sometimes doing things with too much gusto, thanks to the adrenaline. (Like doors being kicked in when they were unlocked to begin with, for instance.)

Having that kind of experience and training, coupled with my media career has taught me to sometimes take a deep breath and get as much information before acting, because consequences last a lifetime. But that doesn't mean we don't act.

Just wanted to clarify before I get branded a sympathizer. The truth is, we just don't know enough about anything yet to make any kind of plan.
Spoken like a level headed professional. Well done. Take heed gentlemen, keep your safeties on.

I heard something about a double barrelled shot gun.
Some things about these reports isn't ringing right.

Rifles, shotguns......

if the above is true, it seems like a low level of planning.

Beging to wonder if this is a "Home Grown" issue.

You are the only one with shame, how dare you blame our government and soldiers for what is happening today, it is this kind of twisted thinking that I was referring to previously.

The weapons confusion could be the result of the media not knowing the difference. Many of these people are urban folks have no exposure to firearms.

My mother, who is currently staying with me, has no idea of the difference between a shotgun and a rifle, and I own both.
