It's unfortunate, but this type of thing will continue to get more and more common, since the police are usually not around to protect us, and we are not allowed to protect ourselves. It's one reason that I spend as little time in the murder capital of Canada as possible

I believe that. Scary as hell.
My son is a big boy, 6'6 275 and solid as they come, he works for a living. But, chaclick is a terrifying noise and on the wrong end when some crackhead needs a fix it doesn't matter how big you are or what's in your pocket.

I hate it. I cant stand the fact they are living there. This may be the defining moment that takes them to an acreage.

Glad he's OK.
I can't imagine a father having to go that involving their child.

Exactly. Does not surprise me one bit regarding the location, 137 is almost as bad as 118. Robberies are an every day occurance. Shootings and stabbings don't make the news unless someone dies, and even then it depends if the cops want it to get out.

Scary stuff ken. glad everyone's ok. PM if you want an opinion of some of the acreage areas north of mogadis...edmonton.

Thanks.

This is awfully minor, rough circumstance but not horrible ending. I know people that have lost their kids and never came back the same. It would be best impossible to go on.

Happy to hear all he got was a scare and you still have your son. Hope the ATM has video surveillance. I heard nothing on Ched this am about a hold up. Stuff like this has to hit the news so people are aware. Hope the cops give the info to the news outlets.

Glad your son is OK.

For the CC fanboys, your keyboard heroism is delusional. Years ago I worked for a bank, and was licensed to carry (early 1970's). Our instructions from Head Office? It's better to give up the money, as your life isn't worth it. It was there only for last resort defense, and as far as I know, never used by anyone even though some bank employees were licensed for decades.

Im even weary of cash deals on kijiji, and usually ask for ETM as payment so I’m not going there with cash, because there’s setup on there too,
Sad world we live in.

I have to say, it is really goddamn difficult not sitting across the street with certain high speed hunting gear and a cracked window.
I understand why some people flip out, if he had.... well you know.

Apparently the bastards know there are no cameras at that Esso, have scoped it out well. The Police are aware, but this happens all the time everywhere.

If well you know, I would be in Edmonton in a few days sitting a ways away watching for someone to run over or poison at high speed from a distance.

Again, easy to talk tough just glad everyone is ok.

I gave him the money so he does not have to worry about being out, thats a tough go on a kid but he's getting the full on understanding what could have happened today.

Your son is a very lucky man this morning , I'm so sorry to read this , and yes Ken , you should have a good sit down with him and talk him into getting out of that city

It's sad what this great province has come to with all the scumbags running around stealing and robbing people , no better in them city's then Toronto now

Heck , lloydminster is having car chases , shootouts with the local RCMP , it's a very bad town now

Even out in the rural areas , so many people getting robbed and stolen stuff , these days lots of farmers are now carrying in the tractors /

Bank machines tend to have a cameras behind the screen. So, hopefully, they police will have a picture of the criminal.

The key is to check the area of the ATM for anyone hanging around,
if there is, just bypass that ATM. And always walk with authority, don't look like a victim.

I'm glad everyone is ok. It is scary! It may take months for your son to recover (I know, I experienced a robber attempt. It was couple decades ago but I remember that really well). He may regret he couldn't fight back. Just say to him that $300 is a good price for not being a killer or being a cold body.
