Congrats Flames fans. They looked great last night ( my beer league team would have too..... ) against the Oil.

Ughh, stortini couldn't take Nolan?

At least Sam Gagnier got his first (son of vetern Flame Dave Gagnier). Good to see.

Flames will have a good year, and the Oilers will have a GREAT year... in 2010...I hope!

nolan is old school tough which beats new school cocky any day. storts just tried to hug him to death.....

the flames had great passing and good puck pressure.

the oilers had...well gagner..and that is about it....sighs..

I've had plenty of practice in becoming a 'gracefull loser'. Some day I'd like to find out what being a 'gracefull winner' is like, apparently I'm not going to learn it from you.

Scared is what happens when life or limb is in peril.

This is a measley hockey game. What are you proposing?

Speaking of fools. What is the saying.... "A fool and his money are soon parted."
It may be awhile before we here from brownbear416

4-1 what a joy to watch.

The fans sure cheered when the Phlegms scored, I guess they are content with their losers.

By the way Baulde.... they lost to the sharks

I'll say one thing. The Flames did a class act for Nolan on his 1000th game and it was nice to have Recci attend to represent the Sharks. Also VERY nice to see him recognized as an avid hunter/fisher, and presented with the Rhino. Congrats Owen!

So the Shames pull there goalie at the end of the 2nd period. Her replacement gets 0NE shot and lets it in. I gotta say one thing, being down 4-0 the Phlegms played great defensive hockey. They only allowed one shot (a goal) in da turd period. Must have lots of confidence in the back-up.

Thanks for makin' my day Sharks (Lord Stanley Awaits)

Congrats on the win 700. SJ does have a good looking team there and a cup run is not out of the question. I'll give 'em credit for one thing, the probably have the best goaltender scouts in the league having recruited Nabokov, Kipper and Toskala (leafs now).

If I was a Flames fan, I'd be really pizzed with kipper's effort, or lack there of. It needs to be explained to him that the days of not being in game shape until Christmas are over. His attitude really reeks of Dominic Hasik and the crap he's pulled over the years. Me, me, me. These guys should take a look at Marty in NJ to see how a true professional handles himself.

Yes, the season is young. Which works against the Phlegms, the more they play the more they will lose.

70% cheer, 30% boo. could be worse. Pre-game tribute proves that while the Oilers are not a good hockey team, they ARE a classy one. Could have just said "screw you Smyth, you chose to not accept our offer". They have also never said a bad word about Pronger through all that crap when they could have. Can you imagine how Brian Burke would have treated either of those guys? Now there is a grade A worthless windbag.

very true. i am/was a huge smyth fan..in fact i am wearing a smyth tshirt right now. if i was at the game it would be a standing O when he came on the ice and after the video.....but then after the puck drops he is the enemy....not going to boo him, but not going to cheer him on either...

I like bashin' the Flames as much as the next guy......not much reason to lately though!

Man are the Oil on a slick!

I'm down here in Anaheim right now (Disneyland), the travel agent gave us 4 tickets to the Oil/Ducks game on Sunday night......Wonder I'll be the only one chearing for the boys?

Should be fun, it will be my kids' 1st NHL game. Funny thing is.....They like the Ducks the best (must be the name, or the Disney thing).

Hey cmfic1, I hope your trip is awesome and the kids love the game. What a first time experience for sure.

Classy job with the Smitty tribute.

Although the boys lost again, I'm really loving watching how the kids are starting to 'get it'. Gagnier and Colivacio are going to be solid NHL players. Rollie is doing his best to hang in there. However the D is sadly lacking, and certainly there is a distinct lack of physicallity to their game. They'll be pretty easily pushed around this season and already injuries are taking a toll. On the bright side, Hemskey is really starting to put it together as an impact offensive player....and nice SO winner tonight, sheeze!

I kind of want the oilers to do better, even as a flames fan. (and I die a little inside). It just makes taunting each other that much more fun

In more important news ... go flames go.

I think this may be the year for many underdogs. The blues, hawks, Philly may have a good run this year.

Just look at the moves this kid is pulling

Thanx Treeguy, we just arrived yesterday. Its unfortunate about all the fires right now. We had 3 days planned for San Diego, but the hiways are closed right now.

Thanx for the link Baulde......I love watching the younger generation. They have a level of skill & imagination, like never seen before. With the likes of Toews, Gagnier etc. etc. its no wonder we have dominated the World jr. scene for the past few yrs.......keep it goin' boys!

Sick Goal by Toews.

Flame are scoring machines this year.

Iginla top 3 in points already.

Phaneuf has really elevated his game this year.

Good win by the oil last night.

Thanks.....and for another Oilers fan, call me Tree.

Baulde, well said, and that was a nice goal by Toews (sheeze Clash, now I'm all paraniod about my spelling and this post is going to take me half an hour! ). I'll try to find the link, but there is another kid named, Mathew Roy that is about 12, and has penalty shot skills that make the TSN feature on Robbie Schremp look pretty weak. Also in Chicago is Patrick Kane who is ripping it up too. Future really looks bright!

What the xxx was Dion doing in the Av's corner in OT ?
I knew if the puck came out the Av's would have a 2 on one.
Can't just be happy with one pt at home, oh well.

I predict the Flames will have the most one goal wins & losses,
as well as O/T Sh/out losses, single points this year, in fact a record since the inception of the single pt, Ot loss came in. 16 has been the most in the past, i say they get 18 in the Ot loss column.

Not that that's a bad thing, but they seem to be just good enough when they win, in fact a few teams have caught them late in the third.
But then again, these single pts could likely get them into the play-offs.
