first time hunting in alberta, questions on the draw
hey everyone, im a Saskatchewan resident, i live right on the boarder so this year i purchased my win number. I have a hunter host. I am wanting to go hunt moose up in the peace river country. My dad used to hunt around spirit river, probably now the zone 359. My question is how do i have any chance of getting a tag up there anywhere? The Alberta draw system is a lot different then Saskatchewan. i realize tomorrow is the last day of the draw but i figured i would ask. Any suggestions?
thanks a lot

First things first, start building your priority, you can seek out a hunter host over the next year or two, for now you need to get someone who plans on entering 999 as ther draw code. It doesn't cost them any extra and it doesn't mater where they hunt in Alberta. I already 999 my moose, but there must be someone on here who has waited to the last
minute to apply.

Yes, if you 999 you are then just working on your priority.
You won't get drawn for anything you will just get one priority point.
And that I'd the same for every species.

Priority is based on the draw code, not just species. Be sure to read as to how many applications that you can enter per year, and 999 does count as an application.

No...you have to build your priority separate from another persons. BUT if you put in as a group no matter what level the members of the group are..... the group priority always defaults to that of the lowest individual in the group....
For example, you have 4 people in a group: one is P1, two are P5, and one is P16.....the group priority is P1.

You need to put in for every draw individually. If you 999 antlered moose only this year then you will have P1 for ONLY antlered moose next year.....it is how IBM makes money on the draw system.
