Default Southbow closed?

On southbow's website it says 'closing out sale'....

That was my favorite shop. The guys in there would chat for hours giving up great information! They taught me a ton. If they are indeed closing down, its a sad day for me

Yes they are shutting the doors for good. Not sure when their last day is. But if they are not closed down already then it won't be long from now.

Agree 100% ^^^....and yea,sad day.
When I was new to CGY and learning the Bow,(still am),they steered me in the right direction to some great accessible, walk&wade waters, off the beaten paths that would have taken me years to find on my own....much appreciated.
Thanks in no small part to Southbow staff,I now do most of my fishing below the city, and save the city stretches for when time is limited/evenings after work etc.
It's a rare day that I don't stop into SB either coming or going fishing down below, some days both,lol....always good up to date advice on flies of the week.

I'm gonna miss that.

Yea FishTales is good,I probably go there as much as anywhere, and it diesnt hurt that it's the closest shop to where I live.
Can't think of the name of it,but another worth checking out IMO is at Southland/Fairmount next to Tim Hortons??I've only been there cpl times, but he stocks some super realistic stonefly nymphs.
Funny related story,I stuck a few of those big creepy looking nymphs into apples and staged them in the girlfriends fruit bowl on the counter....she went ballistic,LMAO.

Southbow will be missed for sure. always excellent customer service and great conversation. likely just too many shops on the south end of the city. the shop you're thinking of is West Winds.

Westwinds Fly Shop.

Basically, you have four areas:

1. South: Wholesale Sports, Westwinds, Country Pleasures, Fish Tales....all within 10 minutes of each other.

2. Central: Hanson's Outfitters, Bow Valley Troutfitters....both in the heart of downtown.

3. North: Fishin' Hole.

5 Outside city limits: With the loss of Southbow, the only two close ones left are Bass Pro's shop, and Flies Etc in High River.

Thanks I think I'll check out westwinds.

I'd much rather support a 'fly shop' than WSS or BPS that have huge corporate backing. Money to the guys who love what they are doing is much better than the guy living in so-cal all winter sippin margarita's.

The guys at WSS and BPS love what they are doing, too.
