Default Home made guns

Is it illegal to make your own gun, assuming it has the same specs as any gun my pal allows me to poses?

Not %100 sure on the long gun end of things. I assume as long as it fits all the rules and regulations in defining a long gun you would be fine. Restricteds are a kind of funny system. You build the gun right down to the last screw then get on the phone and call in that you have made a gun and want to register it. After giving them the make model manufacture and serial number you then send them pictures and they register it for you. So pretty much build an ilegal gun then report yourself until they give you permission and its legal. Remember this is a strangers interpretation on the internet. Dont take it as gospel do the proper research.

I have built several Black Powder muzzle loaders from scratch. Not a problem with BP , as long as you don't build something that is restricted or prohibited.

I am sure you did the same? If you have the patience and the resources go for it.

Default Build

A shop needs a manufacturers license that can serial number it.
If your making a long gun it will need a serial number. You will probably need a verifier to look it over and verify it does not fall into restricted class. You can look this up at CFC web site.

You would think so. But last one i saw get registered didnt need an official manufacture licence. And the verification was done via emailed pictures. This was for a restricted btw.

Default Interesting

Interesting. Maybe it's different for a commercial provider.
