Default 17 m4

I have a Lilja 17 m4 with the throat shot out about 65 thou. and am thinking about re chambering to 17 Rem. Does anyone know a smith in Canada with a decent 17 Rem reamer? It still shoots good so maybe I'm better off to shoot it out? Confused.

If it still shoots good why waste money rechambering? you can probably chase that throat a long ways.

I'm wondering that too. It had 0 freebore and I moved out 53 thou to touch last spring and it seems to shoot as good as ever. Had too add 7/10 gr to get my speed back. I was thinking of re chambering so I would be fresh again. But a 17 rifling is about half as deep as a 224 so that may be wishful thinking. Think you are likely right.

I have a mack IV, as well, I am inclined to agree with Rob, until accuracy drops off, It wouldn't be worth the cost to make a change, to .17 Remington,
could do a barrel set back, likely for roughly the cost of reamer, dies, and .17 rem brass.
Nice Cal, I sure like my sako mack IV.
