when I am looking I always look at ammo availability and if by chance you ever went hunting and forgot your rounds at home you could defiantly pick up 270wsm in just about any small town and I think you will have a greater selection of bullet types and grain a 270 wsm is pretty hard to beat out to a 400 yards for sure or better just my 2 cents happy shopping and hunting

Either is great IMO
I have both and both are great rounds. My tikka 270wsm is a tack driver and my go to rifle. Great out to 500yrds and beyond with practice. I got the 26 Nosler for extended reach and just because I liked the specs. I got it in a Montana firearms and it has been a great shooter with factory rounds. Going to work on some loads and do some testing this winter on yotes, didn't hunt with it this year just because I haven't shot it enough and have it set up for sheep hunting which I never got out after this season. I love both rounds but as stated the nosler has limited ammo and expensive but once you get some rounds through I think reloading is where this cartridge will shine, I have shot both factory ammo in the acubond LR 129 and 142gr. Both fly great out of my rifle.

More choices in ammo and rifle manufacturers in 270 wsm. Shouldn't be any real world difference between the 2 as far as a deer is concerned.
With a handle like 300 Wby, you probably have the best cartridge of the bunch for range and speed.

all depends if you want whats practical or if you want the cool factor, 26 nosler is bad ass and fast but try ans buy a box of ammo. 270 wsm is close ballistically and is readily available virtually anywhere. i might add that if you re-load your going to burn a lot more powder through that 26 nosler as well.

I never let ammo availability affect my decision to buy a new caliber, at least the ability to buy it at a corner store anyway. Just take lots with you when you go hunting and don't forget to pack it, simple as that.

26 Nosler. Cool factor + better bullet selection = rifle purchase.

There is no way that I would pay $4 per case for the Nosler cases. If I wanted a 6.5mm, I would go 6.5x284. For a lower cost factory rifle, I would go 270WSM.

I purchased a tikka t3 270 wsm when they first came out, I don't have one regret, ballistics are great, I have hand loads, 140 gr accubond ballistic tips, and have harvested elk moose and deer with the same round. I have complete confidence in it

6.5x284 would be a great addition to any safe imo
wsm's have really risen in cost in the last few years, i wonder how many years we have left with them.
