My 6 yr olds second sturgeon
Took my boys out fishing and my little guy latched onto a fish even before I could get my rod in the water. He asked me to help him reel it in but I told him to bring it in on his own. Not realizing the size of the fish he had on until it was right on the shore line. Lol
It was a great day of fishing he also landed a 28" walleye. Me and my other son managed to catch a couple more walleye, one jack and a few suckers.
Tons of fun

Oh yeah, kid gets the fish, dad get's the hero shot with it. LOL
Man, must have had to hang on to your son. That fish would drag him right in. Exciting (the catching part, not the getting dragged in part).

I wanted him to hold it but he said it was to big and didnt want to get his shoes muddy. Lol
as you can see my feet are buried, but well worth seeing the excitment in my boys eyes.

I tried my best to get him to hold it but he told me we got to get him back in the water. My boys are going to make great fishermen, love catching them and putting them back. All the years I've been fishing and never reeled in the elusive sturgeon, had one on once before but ran my reel dry, either a sturgeon or a big log that travels very fast upstream. Lol

So I am about to show the green on my horns here.... I'm not looking for anyone to tie, cast, catch and land one for me... But is there any chance of success going for Sturgeon in the NSR around the Edmonton area?

Yup. I'd start trying at legends or Devon lions park.

Absolutely my son caught both of his in the Edmonton area. It's producing nice size fish. Great time of the year for fishing the north Saskatchewan.
Down by the power house is also a good spot to try your luck. Just need to find the deeper pools. I've latched on to a couple but was unable to bring them in, guess it shows my son one up on me when it comes to species.
