I want to catch some Perch!

Hello everyone. I am a beginner fisherman from Calgary and this is my second season fishing. Last season I was quite unlucky in most of my trips, but I still had a blast all the same. I really want to catch one of these mythical Perch; where would one who has horrible luck, and even worse skill catch Perch. If not Perch, any other lake/fish tips would be well appreciated..
