Default Calling Lake Campground

Just wondering if anyone has been there recently to report that it’s indeed open or not. I have a reservation for this weekend and am not 100% sure it’s open. Reports please?

Yah we are booked in for next weekend, they should not be taking money if it's not open. My brother was there today for the day and said the camp ground wasn't opened.

Contact Alberta Parks to confirm but when I spoke with them a week or so back they said the campground were officially opened on the 19th

I called Alberta Parks and was told it opened on this past Monday. I guess I’ll find out in a few hours.

Default Camping update

Everything is open except flush toilets. Did not see anyone around in regards to cleaning outhouse bathrooms, nothing has been mowed, nobody checking camp spots. Appears to be a free for all who want to go there. Parking area was completely jammed on the weekend but that may have something to do with how good the fishing is. Wife were out on Saturday for about 5hrs. Beauty bluebird day and netted approx 40 fish. 3 jack, although one was about 80-90cms. Lots of smaller walleye so hopefully looks good for another year or so. I did hear a report from further west that fish were larger.

Definitely open, we were there over this past weekend camping. Park could really use some attention, grass is deep, pit toilets are in tough shape.
It was a good trip though, minimal bugs, and very easy walleye fishing with lots in the slot size.

Just wondering about the camp ground overall is it pretty nice as in treed, private or busy? Never been before but booked a week in August with wife and kids.

I like it there. Fairly quiet and private. Always have went and met a neighbor that’s been pretty decent. Not sure they say the same thing. It is a little tight in places when some folks take along big boats. I don’t usually stay near the lake as it’s quite open and fairly busy. Not sure of the site numbers. I usually try and stay in the first loop. You’ll have a nice time.

As well, Rock Island isn’t far and if you like to hike you can do some research and head into Orloff as well. Both aren’t far from calling lake.
