Default Our Ice Shack - pic heavy

So after seeing cschache's ice shack build as well as others on here. I thought I would add the Shack that BEHR and I built last fall. I can say that after building this shack I don't plan on building another one anytime soon (if ever)! So much work and thought goes into it!!

The shack is 16' X 8.5' and about 7 high inside.

2x4 constructions for floor and roof, and 1x1 for the walls. All the wood was rough lumber that we cut down and plained.

We have four bunks, 6 holes, stove / oven, sink, radiant propane heat. Wired for 12v and 120. When plugged into power the batteries charge. We have a 12v fan for air movement. Wired for Sat tv. We also have a collapsible waste closet that attaches to the outside.

We have a few things that we want to adjust, but overall it works quite well for us. We didn't put a fridge in it as we were hoping that the cupboards under the sink would keep thinks cool enough, which they do for the first 3-4 days but after that things start to warmup everywhere. So one idea is to remove the back counter and install a fridge there.

Can't wait to get back out again this year!!

looks good! Do you have a standard dish or one of the self finding ones?what are the dimensions of your crapper? So your things you wanna keep cold wont stay cold in a cooler outside or it will still freeze? Just a thought but you could drill a couple holes in the ice but not completely to the water and it would be like a cooler box surrounded by ice! lol! It sure looks alot lighter than what i got goin on. Nice shack

We just use a standard dish that we mount onto the roof of the bathroom.

As for dimensions.. I can say for sure but a rough guess would be 30"x34".

We thought about drilling a shallow hole for a icebox, which I suppose could still happen except that we will need to put another hole in the floor for that!! So a fridge would be easier. Lol

Total weight is somewhere around 3200lbs.

Ha! Not much to see in there. Four walls, ice floor, and a 5 gallon pail with a toilet seat mounted on it and a garbage bag inside it. Nothing fancy but saves a drive into town!!

Very nice shack. Looks cozy and functional.Looks like a lot of work went into it. Do you drill holes or run a trench?

Tons of work... we planed for a while before we started. Then when build time happens, all those plans seem to change once you see how the layout starts to come together. Lol

We just drill the holes. Once the inserts are in they don't seem to ice over to bad. Might add a couple more fans at the roof blowing down or at floor level blowing across the holes to prevent them from iceing over on colder days.

Thanks for the nice comments all.
