Default Forster Co - Ax press?

Who up here has the best prices on these? I’m finding that they are priced all over the map. And used would be great! :-)

In all my years I have only ever seen one used one for sale. Good luck in your search. There is a new one on Ebay for $750 US, Brownelles is $365 US and they will ship to us. Natchez, $326 and they ship here, currently on back order.
Xreload $480 CDN.

When I got mine, I called Forster to find out who they had recently shipped some to. They sent me to a store in Michigan, that had them on at the same price as Natchez at the time. Only issue after that was the freight, it was 80.00. So it makes it tough to buy one for under 500.00 nowadays, the dollar was in a lot better shape back then. At the time mine was 289.00 US, plus the 80.00 US frt.

Good luck trying to find a used one. Hirsch Precision has them in stock. Peter is a good guy to deal with.

If you do go with one, you won't regret it. I love mine.

I have one I got from Natchez a few years ago. I think it was the same 289 plus shipping and dollars was par or better.
I probably should set it up.

Exactly as stated above...

Plus the optional short handle is a treat.
Or just cut the original one down...

Whatever price you have to pay, it is worth it. I have used most brands in the last forty years. The Forster is the easiest to use, as well as gives you the best finished product.

New ones have a longer handle yoke for die clearance.

This is a good idea if using very large caliber . Old style works fine on standard magnums and smaller

When removing the shell holder plate use caution not to lose the spring that is under the plate . (at least the old style ) There is a spring that closes the jaws on the shell holder .

It takes a little practice setting the cartridges on the shell holder plate and not knocking them over before closing the jaws . I still bump the odd one .

X-reload. That’s where I started before this thread and where I ended up. I also found one at Bashaw sports, but they wanted over $100 more.

I’ve picked up an aftermarket shell holder plate that should solve the first issue regarding the springs.

I would appreciate some information about how the aftermarket shell holder works for you. Do X-Reload carry them?

I have the aftermarket shell plate for the Co-Ax and found it to really improve the convenience of switching between the small and large jaws. The springs are contained within the shell plate so you don't have to worry about losing them when changing jaws and you can adjust the tension of the springs with a set screw as well.

I'm not sure if there are others making the aftermarket shell plates now (I got mines over 4 years ago), but the one I purchased was from a maker advertising the upgrade on YouTube (https://youtu.be/9BpFD7NbvL8). His contact information is in the description.

That is a more than expensive enough Press you would think Forrester would fix that glitch and get rid of the need for aftermarket upgrades. Have any of you ever talked to them about it?

So out of curiosity I called them. They have fixed the loose spring issue on their newest version. Apparently the springs are now pinned to the shell holder.

Thank you. It looks like the shell plate is heavier and made of stronger material than the original as well. I did have to replace the shell holder once before as it bent, like the fellow described, so the aftermarket one should be a great improvement to a great press that has worked flawlessly otherwise.
