Default Dog names, past and present

The other thread was a bit depressing but worth it. I noticed 2 "Tia's" and with ours, that makes 3.

Do you re-use names or change it up? Do we have any "Fido's"?

What were your dog's names?

Duke-Mutt (true heinz 57 )
Tippy-Pug
Scamp-Border cross
Gus-PB German Shepard (Feltsen-Holtsen's Exodus)
Tia-Border cross

Never had more than one at a time.

Two of the better ones were a husky named Lincoln and a Lab named Spud. People always thought Lincoln was named after the president but I actualy named him after my welder, Spud was named after a particularly tough driller that I roughnecked for. If that doesnt make me sound like the worlds biggest redneck I dont know what does.

These are the dogs we have had or have as a couple.

Bonney - our current dog - rescued from the SPCA from an abused litter. Part Border Collie if you ask me and part spoiled rotten but she loves Keg to death. Partially deaf so cannot run loose per our Vet - we live too close to the tracks. Once we can fence in a large area then our girl will have some real freedom. Until then Mom is the dog walker.

Liz - our black lab raised from an 8 week old pup to almost 16 months old - lost to the railroad tracks and a tough one to handle - searched for her a long time - did not find out till October of that year (she was hit the end of January) that it was the train. First time I have lost a dog to such tragic circumstances. I cried as I put flyers up all over the area sure that she had jumped into someone's truck. Wishing she had.

Heff. Rescue dog that came with a rip your leg off attitude, especially to men. Was a city dog that we think must have been mistreated by the male of the household. Supposed to be a Shepherd, but there is definitley a little Rottie and who knows what else there. Named after Hugh Heffner. Don't ask me why. About the most vocal hound we've ever seen. got a real vocabulary besides barking and growling. Loves going for walks and horse rides. Wife went to the arena one day to find the mutt had snuck in the tack compartment of the trailer when she wasn't looking.

My wife insisted we get a dog last spring. She's the first one I've ever had, an Aussie Shepherd/Lab cross. Named her Penny on account of her russet colour.

No, not the intent at all, but good point . Are you rich?

I was actually curious if there were many common names. Seems like Duke is in the lead but most everyone is quite unique.

Always wanted an Elkhound and a NS Duck Toller may be a future choice. Likely be another mutt though.

Nipper--- a Rat Terrior
Kelly- Husky/Wolf cross
Thumper-Japanese Spanial cross
Skipper- Heintz 57/Japanese Spanial
Farley- Springer Spanial
Patty-Springer Spanial
Molly-Springer Spanial
Bobbie (also answers to Fang and Basher)- Yorkshire Terrior
April- Maltese Poodle Cross
Tulip-Toy Poodle.

We don't recycle names with dogs or people in my family.
Everyone is a unique individual and we sort of wait a bit ... watch the mutts and then try to pick a name that fits their personality.

Cept for the Fang and Basher one... that was just irony... sure.... she's the toughest dog in North Edmonton (pound for pound) but she's more of a high energy tornado than a tiger.

Dusty- Chesapeake (sp?).....great dog, made it to 8-9 years.

Current dog is:
Hunter- Choc Lab.....he is 11 years.....great with the kids.....too dumb to hunt, but he is the best family dog you could ever imagine. He will be missed when he goes.

Digger: Malamute (rescue) who liked to dig! AKA: Diggler. Diggy-Dog, Wiggler...
Kayla: Malamute -cross, given to us so she had a name. Also called Sweety-Dog!
Molly: Aussie Shepherd-cross (rescue). AKA: Molly-mush. Burrito-dog. Very special.
Tia: Border collie-Aussie Shepherd cross. Such a good little dog!

The Hublet had others: Sam, Daisy and Red Dog (all cougar dogs), Levi (a Border Collie) amongst others. He also had a cat named Wrangler!

No re-using of names here, although I always thought Molly never got full use of hers as she was only 6 when she died from some weird disease.

Nice thread! That sad one is a toughie!
