Default Tim Horton's...How many 1st meetings & business deals take place here???

Got a small business deal tonite and once again the other party has chosen Timmy's for the meeting place.

It's been so common for me to meet new folks there that I was wondering just how common Timmy's is for a meeting place?

And please....you can bypass the drug deal comments....it's boring.

For first time business deals with people I dont know, I ALWAYS do it in my office. I take many meetings as I am always looking for new trades/suppliers and I never meet out of my office for a first meeting.

Of all the first time meetings/business dealings I have had only 1 has been at Timmies, and it wasn't my choice.

Tim horton's sucks!

Anyone who suggest I meet them there for a 1st second or any other meeting would get an earful from me.
I would flat out refuse to eat or drink anything there or go through those doors.

Am I in the correct thread for these comments?

I am indifferent to Tim's myself. Their coffee isn't bad but nor is it especially great. I wouldn't waste my time to line up to buy it; but I do meet a lot of clients at Tim's because it IS a good place to meet. They are at ease among familiar surroundings and that's what I want when I work with them.

Somebody mentioned rotten Ronnie's and that bears consideration, IMHO. The swill they used to produce could make your toe nails curl back and send your pant legs crawling up to your knees! However they have since changed their brand; and the new stuff is easily on par or even a cut above Tim's...and you don't have to put up with the line ups that you get at Tim's.

Mind you I will drink whatever is in the jerry can so what do I know...?

I've met members of the opposite sex there for our first meeting , seems to work . I prefer Starbucks though but there's more competition there to distract

Lots of meetings at Timmies or Starbucks in downtown Calgary. My clients usually prefer one or the other but it's about a 50/50 split.

Guess it depends on the nature of your business.
Timmies is a little loud and distracting to conduct business and show the other party that you respect their time and value what they have to say.

x2, to me business is business and that is to be conducted first and foremost. If they want to grab a coffee or beer later on thats fine but lets discuss what we actually came to do in private, in a professional setting.
