He's battled shark, tarpon, cuda, you name it. He's also a helluva fisherman.

That is brutal. Definitely worse than a hook through the finger.

Horrible. Definitely makes you think about safety even when trying to relax.

First thing I would have done was cut the line .
2nd thing would of been taking that front hook off so you dont get pierced again . Bet he wears sunglasses of some sort from now on .

I was guiding a fella and his son few years back , and the kid put a big 5 of diamonds in the back of his head . I had said the whole day better wear a hat , but didnt want to listen . none the less , first thing i did was cut the line , had his dad hold him while I took the treble hook off the split ring , then a trip to the hospital . Would have been easy to get out I would have used forceps to hold the hook then with side cutters cut the one treble then pulled it threw . None the less he came back from the hospital and had his hat on and was all ready to catch a fish , well that he did hooked into a 42'' pike on a Shreak fishing rod , with 20 lb braid .

Thank god for people that follow the no barb law here .

Cousin once got a hook through the eyelid at Deifenbaker in Saskatchewan. Dad drove to the hospital at light speed in Sasktoon to get it removed. His eye was fine. Too this day me and him wear eye protection.

I don't believe they were trying to take it out them selfs. I would go the Medicenter or hospital as there is nothing worse than loseing an eye! Other than maybe the shotgun.
