Fletching
I just got some ICS 340 Hunters in last week and I'm getting ready to
fletch a few up. It's been a long cold winter this year.
Anyone else fletching arrows for the coming year while the snow flies ?
What ya got ?

Fletchings
I don't fletch my own yet, what jig are you using?
But I am getting some new arrows soon so I will be watching this thread closely. My current arrows have Zeons on them, might go with those again. I have also had Blazers and Fusions in the past and they all seem fine.

I have a bunch of arrows that I've shot the vanes off of that I need to replace. I have the same question, which jig? Helical or not? Compound bow hunting.

I prefer helical but I just switched to a ugly cookie rest so now I fletch offset. Helical I find helps with arrow stabilization at longer distances. Only fletch helical if you run a drop away!

Very easy to use and puts a nice helical on the vanes. I own the mini, straight carbon, and helical aluminum. Great jig, just wish they would make a model out of aluminum and not just plastic.

Fletching
I also have a Bitzenburger jig with a helical and a straight clamp. I use the straight one mostly but have it offset a couple of degree. I would not recommend helical for use in a WB rest, I would use Blazers fletched straight or off set. Actually short vanes you won't notice much helical, takes a 3-4" vane to really notice it.
I have been using Norway 1.8" 3-D vanes lately and have used Boning platinum and a type of gel crazy glue. The crazy glue is recommended by Norway for its vanes and is much faster and hold better, but is harder to clean off if you do have to re fletch. I still tip and tail my vanes with the boning as it is a bit more ply-able. The gel crazy glue goes on less messy than the regular.
I always re fletch all 3 vanes even if just one is damaged, you will figure that out. Cheers Roscoe

I've used a JoJan, now I use a BitzenBurger, they are both good.
2 Degrees offset with Blazers for target and thinking about fletching
some 4" Bohnings at 3-4 Degress offset for hunting this year.

If Blazers are your choice Bohning the maker of Blazer vanes have some excellent fletchers designed specifically for the blazer vanes, they have the Pro Class which is quality and inexpensive will do offset... , or if you want Helical the Helix Jig is best
The "Big Jig" will do it all and up to 4" vanes...
I personally know the father of the Blazer Vane, who designed the Blazer...
he owns a ancher shop and uses over 36 of these Bohning jigs on a big round rotating table to fletch his arrows for his shop..

Neil, you have always steered me right in the past.
So ok, why do I need to sell my BitZ to buy a Big Jig ?
I like my bizt, what can a Big jig do better than my
Bitzenbuger ?
Why should I even concider spending the money,
I don't fletch for the people around me I only do it
for me ?
The bitz works and it's easy so what's the big deal
about the Big Jig ?
Honestly ?
Send me an honest respnce or I will surley run a rant.
Bones.

No rant, JK
Here's a few I fletched up last weekend..
Did these on the Bitz, bit of glare on the nock end from the camera flash.
I noticed the glue hazed just a tad on some, used Superglue gel, goes on easy but not sure if the hazing was from the glue being old and to the bottom of the tube or if the basement got too cold while I was fletching ?
I expect it was temp. related but not sure.
P.S. Those red nocks are gonna spook the bejeebers out of turkeys, may
replace some with black nocks for hunting.
Would like to see pics of what others have fletched.
Lots of new and interesting choices out there with vanes these days.
And I simply like to see what people come up with vane and crest configs.
Pretty cool.
