Of all the rods and reels I own, the one I would choose as a favorite is my 6' Quantum ultra-light spinning rod. I keep the reel spooled with 4lb mono, sometimes braid. Use it for and have caught many species of trout as well as grayling. Biggest fish I have landed with it is an 28" rainbow that I suspected would go around the 8lb mark. I like this setup so much I went and bought a similar rig in Shimano this spring and have yet to give it it`s maiden voyage.

Of the 2 setups I own, my fav is my 5wt fly rod. Try to target trout with it.

Rod and reel I use the most and probably my fav is my 7'10" Quantum KVD Tour topped by the Quantum KVD Tour Baitcast reel. Thing will heave a crankbait a long ways and hence why I like it.

25 year old Berkely "Phaser" 7' light rod, with small Shimano of the same vintage, spooled with 4-6' line. Great for any stream fishing - whether one needs long casts with a "wet fly" and split shot or clear bobber and dry (for trout) or just pocket fishing a little brook. Equally great for jigging for walleye - straight down or casting small jigs and bait or tails. Super sensitive tip for hook sets. Great overall strength and spring for the big ones. And. obviously, unbelievably durable, after all it has been through. My only combo that is never lent to my sons or anyone else. I've caught every available species, in every environment, with this outfit - no repairs or serious maintenance to date.

Although its defanitely not my best rod here is my favorite, 7' uglystick light with a daiwa BG 15 reel. Just a real workhorse with a whole lota mojo. I do everything with it except jig for walleye and fish for trout. About the only two things that the more expencive rods do better.

Although I really have no favorites as long as its a St.Croix. I collect them.

Im pretty fond of my latest addition to the Legend Tournament Musky series that my GF gave me for my Birthday. She had a hard time wrapping a 1 pc 8 footer. Topped it with a Shimano Calcutta 400TE . Just feels good. Meant for up to 3 oz. I have two more in the series for up to 8oz and another up to 12oz lures. Wish I lived in |Manitoba or Ontario, but i dont and Wabamun will have to do to use these. Cant wait for my boat purchase in 2 springs.

Alberta Bigbore: are you going to grab another TE now that they're discontinued?
My favourite setups don't break the bank:
Pfleuger President spinner on a Rapala 6'3" R-Type
Okuma Induron 250lx on a 7'6" Okuma EVX heavy
4.6 ratio BPS Pro Qualifier with an ABU drag stack on an ABU 7" MH Veritas

$299 I believe is what she paid, reel was in the $400 mark. My other two rods in the Legend Musky series were in the $369-389 mark, but I bought those in Manitoba. I'm sure a person can find them on sale.

The rod in the pic, Top n Tail model, is on sale with full cork grips for $219 at WSS north right now i believe.

St. Croix Premiere 7' 2pc MH musky rod paired with an Abu Garcia Revo Toro 50HS and 50lb braid. Best setup I've ever had for northerns.
