Default Thanks to Calgary Archers

Thanks for putting on a great 3D traditional archery shoot today- great lunch and many door prizes. The 20 target course was challenging but fair.

I am looking forward to the next shoot in April

At their range out on hiway #8...coming from Sundre, drive straight south on #22 'till you hit #8, turn left and come east towards Calgary...it is on the north side of the road just before the Elbow River!!

Do you ever have shoots like this for the non traditional gang? Cant think of a better way of tuning up for hunting season

So you get 120 targets for 15bucks? Or am I reading this wrong? I haven't been to a 3D shoot since 2006 in ON. So I'm not sure if all is the same anymore. How long does the shoot usually take to go through? does a guy have to go through with a group? Can a shooter have people (non shooter) walk along?
Yeah just a few questions.

The best target there is the running squirels on the conveyor. I could spend all weekend just shooting these.

Default Calgary Archers Traditional 3D , April 20-21st

To answer your question shorthair ptr.

The rates break down like this
$15.00 per day which is 2 rounds of 30 3D targets. For those that can't shoot both days...
$25.00 for the weekend which is 4 rounds of 30 3D targets,
entry fees include hotdogs for lunch. For an additional $10 you can get a steak and all the fixins dinner on Saturday night.

We like the groups to be around 2-5 people so that the shoot progresses smoothly.
I don't see an issue with bring a few non-shooters to watch the fun.

This is probably the best "fling fest" for the buck anywhere..

So come out to the range and prepare to have a great time..

Sounds like a blast... I did a shoot YEARS ago with my cousin who was a member at the time. LOVED IT! Can't wait to do it again

Default Calgary Archers Traditional 3D , April 20-21st

FYI. The ranges will vary from 5-45 yards, depending on where we setup the targets.
There are no rules, so if the range to a target is out of your comfort zone feel free to walk up..
This shoot is all about fun..

I hope you realize that 45 yards is teaching new people to traditional Bow Hunting to shoot at animals at that range ? . THIS IS NOT GOOD IDEA.
45 YARDS IS TO FAR WITH OUR GEAR FOR HUNTING, so why set up 3D like this. I might add that targets where you are shooting thru bushes are also teaching bad irresponsible habits.

Hey Petew, I hear what your saying and agree somewhat. I personally practice with trad gear out to 30yrds and would only take a 25yrd max shot at a critter. These are my limits, some people are comfortable taking longer shots and at this shoot, having the option to step closer is OK by me. I do believe that if you practice farther shots that it makes the closer ones that much easier. I don't really want to lose all my arrows either.
