The 20 Extreme man now lives in Consort so he is getting lot of practice in the wind that he wasn't getting while living in Edmonton. There is also a 50gr Berger that I bought a box of when I was going to do an Extreme on a shillen 1-9 that just didn't come together as his former rifle builder kept ****ing around. FS

Definitely some interesting stuff there. There are some people in this province that like to play, just that they don't publish the info like this.
Good stuff. I wish more people would publish info like this, makes for a great read.

They do quite well at 500 yards compared to the 55 V-Max Factory round and many loads in a 22-250. Quite awesome when you concider that you need 22.1 grains of powder to do the job.

The 19 Badger was my inspiration for doing the 20 EXTREME. It gave me the knowledge I needed to determine the case capacity I needed for an efficient 20 Cal. Although I never had a 20 VT I knew that it was a bit small to take full advantage of the available powders with the 32 and 40 grain bullets.

As well I learned about "tolerances" from James who is likely the most anal gunsmith on the planet when it comes to perfection. My CZ 527 Varmint/ Kevlar has the same barrel profile as the Calhoon 527 Varmint Kevlar in 19 Badger. I only wish I could tune the CZ 527 main trigger to 12 oz. like Jim.
The first 100 yard group that I shot with Calhoon 32 grain factory ammo was 5 shots under 1/4". I shot this group, with the 28 grain DBL HP and AA 2200, at 50 yards while doing barrel break in/load testing.

The 19 Badger is a truly awesome 350 yard gopher cartridge. If you want to really improve a 22 Hornet then have it rebarreled to a 19 Calhoon. I have witnessed Fasteel shooting near one hole groups at 100 yards with his CZ 527American and I believe that it is his favorite in the gopher patch. When the wind began to get him last summer at about 250 yards I passed him the 20 EXTREME. I don't think that he missed any and when I asked him how much windage he was giving he just smiled and said, "just a hair". We had no pressure problems with sustained fire running these these two cartridges even though I was testing the 40 V-Max with the 3722 fps load at 30+Celsius. Unfortunatly this was the day that Fasteel got sprayed in the face when the Hornady Factory 17 HH ammo destroyed 5 brass before blowing a primer on gopher #6.

He's a good friend of mine and lc described him to a tee. I was going to bring one of his rifles back up here but put it off a year and then along came Home security act or whatever the U.S. is calling their silly gun laws these days. Are you interested in selling your Calhoon?

Well selling my Calhoon, although a very slim possibility as it is with the exception of a 20 Extreme a true one hole varmint rifle, and them are tough to find, with out going into a PPC cartridge or a BR rifle. FS

Hi Lee,

Have you had an opportunity to test the 55 Berger loads and the others I left with you?
