Think the eagle has bad eyes...didn't see a kid in the initial herd, don't really thing the eagle was aiming at a mature Gamswild, could get injured or even killed trying that.
Pretty incredible video, thanks.

Never expected the eagle to get up at the end of it, took a bad beating. Nature at it's finest.

If you read the comments youll see its a falconer prompting the eagle to attack. Some question as to whether it was a very bright move.

You guys need to give your heads a shake. There is nothing wild about this. This is a trained bird sent to attack a Chamois. The birds trainer needs a swift kick in the nuts. If that bird isn't seriously injured from that encounter I would be very surprised. The trainer should know better than to put his animal into that kind of a mismatch. This no better than pit fighting.

You don't think that bird was running on instinct and that stuff doesn't happen in "real life"? How do you train a bird to do that? Lol. It happens man. Yes it was his bird but it's easier to get the footage this way.

Eagles do this in the wild... Easy meal. Drag a goat off a cliff, done deal.

I recall hearing of two Alberta F & W officers flying in a small plane, doing the summer antelope count, when they watched (and photographed) an eagle taking an antelope. If I recall correctly, the eagle basically rode it with it's wings outstretched - basically slowing it down, until the antelope ran itself to exhaustion.
I've watched Golden eagles harass bighorn ewes with their young - apparently attempting to separate a lamb from its mother, to chase it off a cliff. Eagles congregate in the lambing areas in the spring, probably looking for an opportunity to snatch one, or find a stillborn, or clean up after another predator. There's a few spots along the Icefields Parkway, 1 hour south of Jasper, when you can watch this from the roadside.

They are pretty tough animals! I was boating this spring and heard a commotion while trolling. I looked up and saw what i first thought was an eagle killing a raven which is actually pretty common. Turned out to be 2 eagles fighting. They locked tallons about 50ft in the air and cartwheeled straight down into the ground. I could hear the thump! I beached the boat and walked right up to them before they got untangled and took off. Its amazing how big they are up close. My phone cam did it no justice.... http://vid864.photobucket.com/albums...420_154723.mp4

I think that was the original intent, but the chamois didn't go over the edge that I saw when the bird fist latched on.

I totally agree. No wild bird would do that, too much of a risk.
