Default Radium/Kootenay Area

Hi all,

I'm heading off for a couple weeks vacation. We'll be doing some guided fishing in the Fernie area, however I will also have a few days around Radium to explore/fish. I plan on doing some fishing in Kootenay National Park (with the appropriate license/gear), and some outside the park. I've only fished a little around the Radium area in the spring, where we managed to land a nice bull, but was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions for the area. No worries if you want to hold your secrets close though! Thanks in advance!

The south end of Windermere lake has bass. Might be fun.

Fishing the Columbia River downstream of radium can produce some big Bulls and Rainbows. The bass and northern pikeminnow in Lake Windermere itself can be fun on topwater flies. Just cast around docks and weeds. Lake Lillian has some decent rainbows and Wilmer Lake used to have really nice sized brookies but I haven't fished it in a couple years.

Just an FYI to add to this the McLeod Meadows Campground is closed right now so have to park directly at the Dog Lake parking lot. Adds about .5k but not bad hike.

Really appreciate all the insight! Thanks! So far we’ve got into some nice bulls, rainbows, and cutties. The best day being at Boom Lake so far. A short 5km hike each way, and worth bringing the waders to get closer to the ledge!! Would highly recommend it if anyone is driving the 93.

Awesome. I heard that lake is beautiful. We hiked up to Stanley which looks like it is close to that area. Nice part of the Rockies.
