Default 2014 goals

Who's got some 2014 fly fishing goals?

This year I wanna catch a golden trout.

I also want to go and figure out the Sheep.

And a 14"+ trout on a 2 or 3wt would be nice!

Learn to use the fly rod, and start with some Goldeye on our local little river. Go from there....but definitely learn to use the rod and cast.

I'd like to learn to cast a little more gracefully, hit some more of the high alpine lakes, and toss to into small streams for even smaller trout.

If you guys are thinking about trying one of the two more difficult (and arguably more rewarding) Golden Trout lakes found west of Nordegg, feel free to shoot me a PM. I've been to Michele once and Coral twice.

I'm heading to Ontario this summer to visit the in-laws. Hopefully I'll be able to take a break from all my fishing to visit them, haha.

I'm stopping in the Kenora/Dryden area to try to nail a musky or two and some smallies. Then heading a bit further east to chase some Nipigon specks. Ontario is a streamer chuckers paradise!

I just got equipment, so:
1) Learn how to cast
2) Catch a fish
3) Show what your flies can catch Flieguy

Not sure if it'll be this year, but definitely a trip into Michele or Coral is on the list.

Cheers

I would like to become more efficient at reading the river. I only get one day off per week so I would like to have the confidence that when I skip a section it's not a huge mistake.

Well, my bro bought me a vice for Christmas...so it looks like I'll be spending a whole bunch of money on supplies and learning to tie.

I'd also like to get a Bull. This was a goal last year, but I was having to much fun with the Cutts and Browns.

I had a great 2013 (best ever) all over Alberta except in my own home town NSR (worst ever last year). Want to focus my backyard more for 2014. Trout are nice to catch but it's fun to get walleye, pike and goldeye off the fly rod to.

What weight of rod do you use to fish for Walleye/Pike in the river?

These are really great goals everyone! Some of mine are:

-do more fishing!
-more brookie bonking (haha Taco!) haven't hit up Meadow Creek yet
-catch a bull trout on the fly
-catch a sauger on the fly
-fish as many streams as possible! Really want to hit up Dogpound, Ravan, Elk Creek
-catch a wild grayling on the fly

Sooo envious!!Driven over Nipigon several times now, always in too big a rush to wet a line, but I'd love to swing some streamers under the bridge there.....next time!!
Fwiw,if you need help with musky, one of my best buds since we were kids guided on Lake of the Woods for 15yrs,I'm sure he wouldn't mind steering you in right direction.

Goals 2014:
1)gonna swing for chrome coast to coast....2
weeks in NB for Atlantics late June/early July, then last week August on Skeena.
2)buy a good 2man pontoon....Probly Scadden??
3)Do ALOT more fishn with 11yo son....(hence the need for good 2man toon)...hook him into a 'lantic should be priceless entertainment,LMAO!

I want to fish the Bow more. It was always intimidating, but I took a leeson through Fish Tales and learned a lot. Now I need to find time and put it into practice.

I'm setting the bar low so I can't be disappointed this year. I wet the fly lines exactly 0 times in 2013, hoping just to get out this year.

2. Fish more of the Ram canyon section.
3. Fish the lower Cardinal before freeze up! LOL
