Another Canuck'er here. (What's that make...5 of us?) They say Rypien is going to have a better year. Concentrating more on his game than his fighting. Would love to see him and Ivanans go at it though. But would also love to see him step up his game, so that he's more useful in the playoffs.
Watched the game last night on Shaw PPV...meh. Nothing to get excited about for either team, mind you it was Calgary vs Manitoba Moose. Jokinen looked the same as he did when the fans shoo'd him out of here. Canucks sat pretty much every one of their good players for both of their teams.
Looking forward to the real games.

Weird grit beats skill as the oilers play the mostly B squad and Beat the nucks mostly A squad....and outmuscled them to boot...yep its just pre season but its gonna be fun to watch

As for canadian teams, go Oil. Lets hope they have a better year and that Hall brings something special, especially after last year's disaster with the proven new coach failure.

Hello???? Canucks fans'???? How did you enjoy last night's game?? I know, you're gonna come on here and say it was only pre-season, you didn't dress some of your better players, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Still, the result was an 8-2 drubbing. Results like this are sure gonna help the rookies build their confidence for the regular season, and while I don't suspect we'll finish as high in the standings as the 'Nucks, the Oilers will be the most exciting team in Canada.

And yes, Kanon, the Flames do suck.

Yeah that one was painful. I was at the game. The Canucks have not looked sharp this preseason but I'm not too worried at this point.

I do think the Oil fans have tons to look forward to this year and I don't believe they'll finish as low in the standings as many people are saying. I think they have a real chance at being this year's Avalanche. There will be lots of highs and lows during the season and as long as the young guys can handle those and end up being pretty consistent then I think they may surprise some people. One big question mark for them will be goal tending. If Khabi is back in net fairly early in the season and they can fend off the injury bug that was so devastating to the Oil last year then they'll be a far better team this year. The big bonus for oil fans is that even if they do have a bunch of injuries and don't get very good goal tending then it'll still be a pretty exciting year. Those three young guns are going to be a lot of fun to watch.

The Canucks will be fine. I hope.

But an 8-2 drubbing only happens when the Oilers play their regular season lineup during the pre season

If the Oil had played their 2009-2010 regular season line-up they would have been on the short end of that 8-2 score. LOL Which of last years Oilers would you have sat out to "even things up"? it's largely the new guys doing the damage. However, truth be told, I don't expect them to do quite as much damage once the regular season opens.

Well, we do have to be somewhat creative with our excuses - what with us not having the built-in "rebuilding" excuse to hang our hat on for year after year as we stockpile first overall picks.

Finally, that's what I was looking for, a little "friendly" animosity. For a while this thread was about as exciting as listening to my friend's baba talk about knitting.

I love the delusional Canuck fans, the Oilers pick first for the first time in team history and all of a sudden we're stockpiling. The only thing worse than you Canuck fans are the Calgary fans that think their team even has a chance anymore, or that Sutter is still the savior.

Well, stockpiling has to start somewhere. One year down, more to come?

I didn't see most of the game, but i don't recall seeing hemsky, cogliano, or paavari. Hemsky and paavari combined should of added at least 3-4 more goals, lol

Isn't Hemsky injured??

Not that I can blame him, hard to not get injured with a name like Alice.

(ahem...ahem....pay no attention to the Salo behind the curtain...)

so true!! I often wonder how the Flames would fare if hit by an injury streak like the oil had last year.

You guys shouldn't be so hard on the Canuck fans, they did win the cup... in 1915 as the millionaires. So not to stir things up to much but haven't they been rebuilding since Trevor Linden wore the C?

You're assuming Sutter wouldn't trade that pick to get Bertuzzi back in town.

IF things go as I think they will both Sutters will be working on the family farm by the All-star break. The only saving grace they have is they have a competent asst GM...

MANNN, we have a Defense that will KICK AZZ this year. Lost the Gagg and one of my Fav players ( Asham ) but found a few Interesting pics.

I am thinking Guerin will be ONe of them, TONS of experience and a HELL of a play maker. Last year when he teamed up with the ***** Cindy they performed pretty well.

Going down to Philly on Oct 16th, watch them KICK the CRAP out of Cindy, tyr a few Cheese Steaks, check out the Bell and go from there.

Not sure if there is any Fishing there, BUT if there is I am sure I will check it out
