Mark I’m surprised yours came with a brake, mine didn’t. The bottom plastic looks the same as any other Tikka.

Cabelas had special versions exclusive to them, my CTR was the standard model, metal magazine and bottom metal, and no brake or fore end shoe. I didn't want a brake anyways, and I bought the fore end shoe separately.

Did your version have the set trigger?

Have to admit I wish mine had the metal bottom metal and metal magazine.

No set trigger, I had the stainless model with 24" barrel in 6.5CM. I had the set trigger in a Sako 85 varmint rifle, but truthfully, I never used it.

They can all be had for a T3X if you want them bad enough, you'll be well into a 7-800.00 bill for the lower metal, metal mags and trigger though, can slap a two stage in it as if yopu want, Stoeger has the triggers, few other vendors have the bottom metal. There is a Cdn fella making plastic replacement mags for the CTR/TAC A1 as well, 5 & 10 shot, how well they work, haven't heard. I have a 5 shot, haven't tried it out yet.

I am loading to the factory eldx COL, which is the standard SAAMI COL, it's as long as will fit the magazine.

I load mine to 2.950" which is the same as the factory 143 ELDX precision hunter ammo. The 147 ELDM factory loads that I have are 2.945" and they shoot really well also so either works in my rifle.

Thanks Elkhunter 11 and waldedw, I didn't want to use up too much powder and projectiles developing loads so looking for some short cuts.

The load that works the best in my rifle is a fed 210 primer under 67.5gr US869 pushing a 143gr ELDX COL 2.950", I have that same load now with the 140gr ELDM for testing.

The other load in my gun that showed good results was 59gr of RL25 with the same components, I have some 140gr ELDM loaded with that also for testing, if we every get a reasonably warm day without the wind howling I'll go shoot them.

I'm pretty happy with the results from my trip to the range today.

The best group was 0.43" with the 143gr ELD-X and 58.5gr RL 25.

The RL 26 and the ELD-X was 0.64" so definitely on the right track. This was using new ADG brass with Federal 210 primers and both loads were seated to 2.950".

A big thank you for getting me on a good load quicker than the usual trial & error, my stockpile of ELD-X's was shrinking pretty fast.

How were the velocities with R25 vs R26?

Great, glad those loads worked for you, you have a great starting point and can just tweak them a bit if you like. I really wanted to try RL26 but it was/is scarce as hens teeth, I got 2 powders that really work well now so I'll just stick with them.

I didn't have my chrono out, I know I should be measuring velocity but I'm just looking for groups for now.

Default My Stock and Dies are in

So my new stock, muzzle brake, Dies and Bullets & Brass came in so I thought I would post a picture or two.

One thing I noticed right away is how much stiffer the Bifrost is compared to the Berserk stock. Just need to find the time to install everything and Load up some rounds to test it out. (weather permitting of course)

Damn you. Damn all of you. Read this thread and I had to get a PRC.

If anyone sees some Vihtavuori N565 or Enduron 8133 in their online travels, I’d bow down to your greatness if you shot me a pm.

He bought another Bergara, hopefully this one doesn't build up copper like the last one.

Should be a great gun, keep us posted once you get everything up and running. I never tried N565 but did try N560 and didn't work near as good as US869 or Retumbo, RL25 also worked well
