375HH magnum (338 Win Mag runner up)
Can kill moose through dense brush (bullet can pass through 12" tree and still kill a moose. lol)
Good for Africa if that is your thing.
And best of all, great caliber for dumping big bears.
Very respectable long range ballistics.
500 rounds

I was thinking the same thing. Give me a 12 ga coach gun. That little beast will knock the crap out of anything on this continent. Have to be 3", 1 1/4 oz slugs and 1 1/4 oz lead birdshot.

I would say that is the right answer. (there are other rifles with additional barrels but the T/C s have the widest selection)
Why would anyone limit themselves to only one cartridge when they could have several and a good one for each different type of game or hunting situation (eg. .223 for fox and coyote and a 270 for deer and antelope and a .300 win. mag. for long range moose and elk etc.)
The original question said "one rifle" so you could have all the shotguns you wanted.

My favourite, trusty and fun 30-06. I could use my bow for everything else.

My trusty old Ruger 77 in 35 Whelen.
500 factory rounds plus reloading gear. Gotta get the fireformed empties somewhere!
225gr Partitions, IMR 4350, large rifle primers. Maybe add some new brass as well. All told, enough to fill a rather large wooden box.

Been there...dun that.
For a long time all I had was a 3006 and a shotgun and that's all that I needed.
So, my answer is easy.....Any good quality 3006 rifle and a sh*t load of 55 gr, 125 gr, 150 gr, 165 gr, 180 gr and 220 gr rounds. That ought to cover just about everything that I need a rifle for and and more. My shotgun would take care of the rest.

Have to agree.. my .308 Norma drops what needs to be dropped in its place! It's always nice not having to chase/track your game after the fact.

in this day and age of new calibers spawned off something traditional every year it is really good to see alot of time tested calibers up there. Id go with the .270 win. First rifle and if it ever comes to it will be the last.

If I were to chose to only keep one it would be a No.1 MKIII* Lee Enfield.
If I was told I can only keep one......I'd go straight for the CZ-858.

Yeah - I left the safe open for too long last week and she started counting... lots of p**ing and moaning ensued --- why so many?? My response as always - better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
The first one that seems to get loaded in the truck now-a-days is the Ruger M77 MKII Ultralight in .30-06 with Leupold 2-7x33 - light weight but barks a bit w/ heavy projectiles. One MTM box of 50 of 220 gr Hot cores & a MTM 50 box of 180gr Nosler AB's seem to always end up with it - enough wampum to deal with any issues till spring.

I would have to choose the rifle i have now, a Win model 70 featherweight chambered in 280 Rem.
Best bullet weight seletion available.
I would need lots of all available weights in the TTSX of course, and a 5 gal pail of benchrest primers, a couple kegs of powder, my reloading bench, with extra dies and decapping pins, 50 lbs of brass.
I could go on
338 WM was a very close second
