P&D has a nice used 270 for around 300 bucks. Should go and have a look and see how it fits you.

That's a tough question but I guess I would keep my 300 Weatherby. That would cover most scenarios, but if that was the case, my wife's only gun would be my 416 Weatherby and I would beg her to be my gun bearer while hunting Cape Buffalo and Elephant.

Default 270 win. with 1000rds 130gr.

I haven't seen a 270 win listed yet!!!!! Flat shooting and accurate from Prince George black bears to Dawson creek moose. All round nice gun helps that its got set triggers and a leupold 2.5 to 8 scope.

If only one rifle were allowed it would be a Blaser K-95 with a few of the interchangeable barrels in various calibers.

http://www.blaser.de/K-95-Single-Sho...61.0.html?&L=1

If only one firearm were allowed it would be Finnclassic 512s with o/u 12 gauge barrels and a couple of other o/u rifle barrel sets.

My old Ruger 77, 35 Whelen, open sights plus a good 4X scope.
Ammo stash: a few hundred factory 200g and 250s then a couple thousand or so Partitions in 225g with a couple hundred 250s for good measure, enough primers and powder to load this selection. And a stash of new brass just in case.

Nothing in Alberta I wouldn't feel uncomfortable hunting with 35 Whelen.
Throw in a good 12g and I wouldn't go hungry at all, Whelen is a bit much on grouse I think.

Right now my one gun to keep would be my 460 Weatherby Custom deluxe. I would get backup open sights put on it too just in case. at least 5000 rnds of ammo. Whatever shoots the best for weight.

That ^ would be one SCARY thought!

For me, I would want;

- One of these in .30-06 ...

- One of these in VX-3 2.5-8x36 ...

- And a whole LOT o' these ...

Fortunately MM didn't include 'shotguns' in this, so I'd keep a fair number of those on hand.

Default Rifle or 'firearm'

1 rifle - Sauer 202 or CZ in .30-06, 9.3x62 or .375 depending on where I was.

1 firearm - a combo or drilling in .30-06/12ga (with a .22lr insert if that wasn't considered an extra 'firearm').

Default Only one rifle?

Either my sporterized .303 which is a dandy bush gun or the new Marlin .308MX.

I could do with my 6.5X55 Safari express gun, with its extra set of 20 gauge barrels, or my Tikka 412S in 12 gauge, with the extra 9.3X74R barrels, and the Briley 28 gauge tubes for the 12 gauge barrels!
Both are equipped with QD scope mounts and 4X scopes

This is a real tough decision, but I guess I'd have to say a 270 Weatherby Mag, a couple of thousand Barnes 130 grain TTSX, a few 130 grain Grand Slams and a keg or two of ReLoder 25.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm
only one gun, well I,d have to go wth one of those new fangled guns that have several different barrels, eg shot gun , rifle, muzzle loader, why be stuck wth one when you can have 5 or 6 in one and a few hundred cases of ammo for each barrel

blaser r93 professional with a few barrels and bolt faces,

.22lr kit and.223 on the small end, couple big game calibers on the large end, good to have back up capability and also one set up for long range, 10's of thousands of rounds of .22lr, close to that for the .223 and a few thousands for eachs of the big game calibers outta do it, could even have a big bore barrel if traveling abroad like africa etc.

if i had to have only one that would be the only way to fly for me...

It's funny how some people speak about cartridge and some a particular rifle when it comes to picking "one rifle".

I was simply making an observation on different trains of thought.

I was thinking of taking a break from posting on the internet for the foreseeable future anyway and this seems as good a time as any. Being sniped at by cowards behind a fake name and a computer screen has long since gotten old.

Well my first thought was good drilling with a pair of 12ga's over nice huuuuuuuuuuuummmmm...say something in a nice 6.5 cal.

Then I thiought well maybe just my .260 sako greywolf...or maybe my 06.

but then I said well maybe just a 22lr.....

this is just too hard..... only one rifle ???? gives me a headache
