Today’s task…precision plinkers. Free brass (once fired range pick-ups).



6.5CM: 44.0gr IMR4350, CCI BR2 primers, Berger 140gr Hybrid Target bullets. Seated to 2.2390” CBTO (.010” jump).
(With .0005” tolerance for each measurable process.)

Another 50 to load. Time for lunch first!)

It’s adjustable between 30” to 33” to the top of the wood. It is a HD packing bench sold by uLine. You can get different tops for it. I chose the maple top.

I think Husky does make something similar to what you’re looking for.

Deprimed some 22-250 brass and tried my new AGS annealer.

I think it will be perfect for me. It was my first time using it so a bit of a learning curve. Once I had the torch in the right position and found the correct speed it worked perfectly. The quality seems good and it is nice and compact. I dont do high volumes of brass. I am impressed so far.

Wired up my new induction annealer, and played with it Friday. Bit of a learning curve for sure.
Tried to get to our range on Sat afternoon, but after snowmaggedon, the road was not plowed. Helped a fella get unstuck on the way, got there and then with the huge gusts, the blowing snow, and how busy it was, just turned around and went home.
Played with the annealer more, and loaded up a bunch more 303 brit.
Today, I loaded up the 7-08 cases I annealed. After about 4-5 firings, and now annealed I had to dial in the full length sizer some to get it just right.

Hopefully next weekend we don't get snowmaggedon and a trip to the range ensues.

Finally cleaned my garage bench off. This was all done in the last few days
Helped a new buddy do load development for his .270wsm and 308. He was shooting bug holes in no time.
Loaded 130 rounds of .257 roberts with my son.
Spun 100 rounds of 3030 for the bear smasher lol.
Prepped a pile of .308 brass for the wifes rifle.
Now to do some shooting.

He also has a video out after 2 years use, so tips that he has run across with use.

I still have some fine tuning to do, and get some secondary fans going on it, as my coils get hot after about 10 brass in quick succession. 1.7 second cook with 5 second recovery.
I'm using 12 gauge wire coils.

I'll use it for a bit like above and see were it goes from there.

Should never have waited this long to get it going. I have been looking at building one for over 1/2 a year. Very easy to put together in a few minutes and have it running. Had kept a bunch of brass that was scrap to practice on before using my good brass, so that was a bonus.

I've priced out the fancier units that use a VZC board, but that was going to add up quickly to over $800.

This hand held unit is more than adequate for the amount I do, for now.

Amazon, $315 at my door, plus an extension cord. About 15 min of my time to watch the video again, and wiring it up, making some coils.

Uses the propane torch but very easy to use. I paid $305 for mine, Cdn made product. I did a 100 cases in less than 60 minutes first time out. This looks quicker than holding the coil around each case, IMO.

Quicker, well, with my 5 second lapse between cases it takes less than 7 seconds to anneal case to case. Why 5 seconds, well that gives me plenty of time to move it over to the next case, and line things up just right. Could I do it in 3 seconds, probably, but what is an extra 2 seconds..... If I had 100 cases lined up that would take less than 12 minutes. Real world even if it took 3 times as long, that is still barely over 1/2 hour for 100 cases.

Not promoting one over the other, as to me it doesn't matter what one uses. I went induction because there is no flame. I can sit down with my son later and make it full auto, because we just like tinkering, and he has a 3D printer and needs to make electronic projects for his classes. So bonus all the way around for us.

Up next is a fitted fan on the back of it, to draw more air through it and have it heat up less. More run time, not because I need it, but because I can, and it will run more efficiently.
