Default Wondering about Wabamun lake whitefish

I would love to get some whitefish this winter and was wondering if anyone has been fishing Wabamun lake for whites this winter. It used to be good before the oil spill a few years ago. There must be some whites left.

Has anyone tried for whites at Wabamun this winter? I see you can keep a few according to the regs.

I am hoping I at least get out to Pigeon this winter too. I still have faith in catching some whites there.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I was sure there were still some whites to be had at Wabamun. I will let AO anglers know how I do if I am able to get out there to fish.

I seen a few photos posted of a little boy holding a big fatty besides a red rental shack a few weeks ago on Wab. So they must be still there . I gather they would be in the shallows now around 4 ft come evening .

There is a good population of whites out there. Some decent sized as well.

I have always found consistently catching whites a challenge (but then again I never specifically target them) - so advice on how to catch them is better left up those who have it dialed in.

It seems i have the opposite problem with whites, but on moving water. If I'm nymphing I can't keep the danged things off my line. I have yet to catch one through the ice though.
