A loaded Cayman GTS is actually more like $120K, and I'm pretty sure you aren't getting that demon for $40K. Yes, the Porsche is more, and I would pay it. I wouldn't spend the asking money on a Demon.
Now a loaded 911 4 GTS, optioned the way I'd like it, is over $180K, not really a fair comparison. My only point was I prefer the refinement of a Porsche to the brute power of a muscle car. It's why I bought a mint used Cayman, for less money than a new a new GT Mustang or SS Camaro.

So I just had to go do some research on that demon. Impressive numbers on the track and under the hood. Also a MSRP starting price of $86K USD, and only 3000 will be built. Expect dealers to price them up around $100K USD from what I read. And that puts them squarely in the same price range as a 911 4 GTS, without too many option boxes ticked off. And yes, i'll take the 911 please.

I'm a Cayman GT4 guys myself, but if I had the cash, I'd be test driving the GT350 and '18 Mustang GT.
There is suspicion that the 1/4 mile time being advertised by FCA was obtained with open exhaust. None the less, it is impressive.

That GT4 is an awesome machine. I like the tamer GTS Cayman, as I don't track my car anyway and it is more civil to road trip. I just got back from putting 2500 kms on my Cayman going down to Glacier Park in Montana, and 'plain jane' Cayman (if any Porsche can be considered plain!) is already plenty of car to get your anti social driving juices flowing...  . I would like to say that I overcame and behaved myself, but I just mostly did. A few minor lapses may have occured. Anyway, they are fantastic driving machines, with that mid engine layout.

Dunno about the hopped up version but I find the Lotus has the look, feel and finish of a kit car. Not something i'd wanna drive on a regular basis.
Not that I'll ever own any of these cars we're talking about.

I can carry more than a set of golf clubs
I can drive it year round
A tuned rice burner won't embarrass me off the line
I can use regular fuel
If I scratch it off roading I don't cry
Repair bills won't put me in the poor house
She knows I'm not rich and that's not the reason she sleeps with me

Watched the vids in the link. The last one was titled 'Launch' and was a whole lotta rah rah. At 3:28 the speaker tweeked my memory when he said

Not sure if it was intentional, but I would think that Dodge knows the history of their cars and they made a subtle tip of the cap to the 1970 Challenger.

Being able to own a nice car doesn't preclude one from driving something else, you realize that right? For instance, my work vehicle (I still work as a tradesman) is an E250 stretch cargo. It'll carry even more than an F150. 
Repair bills on my car won't put me in the poor house, as I can afford to own and repair it (if it ever needs it) without hurting my financial position.
My wife know's I'm not rich, but I am well off, and she has been sleeping beside me for over 25 years.
What you drive or don't drive won't make you divorce proof. Who you married, who you are, and how you work at your marriage is the only thing you can control, and even that won't make you divorce proof.
Each to his own for sure though. Doing well enough to own a nice car, that you worked hard to own, doesn't actually pigeon hole a person into some stereotype. Anymore than driving a jacked up Dodge automatically makes you a douche bag.

I'm thinking another corvette convertible may be in the garage soon. Hard to not live the c7 lines. By far the most comfortable of all the domestic 'supercars'.

Heart felt apologies, yes the GT is the better car than the vette by every metric, I agree. I honestly never even thought of it as it is pretty 'esoteric', more of a super car, in another price range. By sports car, I generally think of a two door, two seater, as opposed to domestic muscle cars. The GT falls more in there with the Mclaren Lambo Ferrari Bugatti car set to me...
