Default Wabamun Lake Management Plan

For those of you who fish Wabamun Lake, you might want to have a look at the Draft Wabamun Lake Watershed Management Plan that is posted on the Wabamun Watershed Management Council website's Studies and Reports page. The plan is designed to involve the various stakeholders in working together to protect and improve the health of the lake, including its fishery. The WWMC is requesting all interested stakeholders to send their feedback to info@wwmc.ca by July 31 so that the council can proceed to a final plan to be posted in the fall.

If you want to know more about watershed management plans and how this one was created, go to the Watershed Management Plan page.

The plan covers a lot of different subjects, such as water quality, biodiversity and land use. If you wish just to focus on the fishery, go to page 35 of the full report, where the fishery is discussed. As well, page 65 in Appendix 3 discusses strategies for improving the fishery.

The WWMC stresses that all feedback will be seriously considered. If you enjoy fishing the lake and would like to see the fishing improved, don't pass up this chance to provide your input.
