Default 6.5 mm Rem mag

Diamond in the Rough ?Pre 64. Steel butt plate, real nice piece of wood on her, blueing needs a little TLC. Dont know anything about the caliber. Would imagine factory ammo would be pretty hard to find.

Any Thoughts ?

6.5 Rem mag was introduced in 1966. Was never chambered in Pre 64 model 70's. Barrel has been changed at some point in it's life.

Reloading will be your best option....Brass will be tough but you can find it.

And yes the cartridge is from 1966 so your rifle is rebarrelled and if you bought from the auction? you should have the chamber cast....they are not the brightest "gunsmiths" in the world.

- Sightron rifle scopes, 4.5x14x42mm or 4x16x42mm
especially! with the HHR reticle. (no duplex pls.)
- older 6x fixed scopes with fine X or target dot.

Honestly, if it's a pre64 Model 70 in 6.5 RM I'd rechamber or barrel it to a. 264 Win Mag.

Easier to feed and it's a long action anyway. New powders get you into the 3250 range with 140s.

I've been using the 6.5 RM for over a decade now and love it. Anything Alberta has to offer its good for.

Brass is few and far between, so good luck and making it is a PITA.

I have enough brass to last this barrel and then it'll be a PRC (identical ballistics)
