Default Coal Lake

Couldn't find a recent post about Coal Lake by Wetaskiwin. Has the ice gone yet? Thanks in advance for any info.

I read that the low water caused a high mortality in the pike population a couple of years back. Give it a couple of more years and the population will build back up.

Low water, hyper eutrophic, shallow...over fishing and sadly lots or pressure and poaching.

Coal is not the lake it used to be!

A couple years back dead suckers and pike lined the shores...I still can't believe they follow 3 over 63cm regs....

I remember lots of people saying how good it used to be. With the weir on one end keeping the level up what happened to this lake? I know years ago I fished the outlet a couple times in the spring. Was always fun to try and land a pike with 10 other lines in the water lol.

Not sure what it used to be like but went out today and caught 2-3 lb. pike for a couple hours straight, absolutely fantastic. The lake is full of green algae already which is gross but the fishing is still fun.
