Default Fly Rod/Reel combo

Hi guys/gals.

Have a buddy looking for a rod/reel combo. 4-6wt (for the bow) located within Calgary area. $300 tops to spend. Ready to buy now!

Might help someone through tough times before he buys new.

While I don't have any of my rods for sale, I have a few suggestions if your buddy decides to get new.

When I first started, I had a Cabela's RLS+ combo which comes with rod, reel and fly line. It looks like it's been replaced with the Synch model and is currently on sale for $150. Cabela's has a pretty good warranty as well.

If they want to start with something a little nicer, I recommend a Fenwick Aetos and Lamson Liquid 2 fly reel. If you look around, you should be able to get them both for around $300 on sale.

I'd recommend getting a 6 WT if they mostly plan on fishing the bow as it's much easier to flip around an indicator rig or small streamers. If they plan on fishing some smaller rivers as well, a 5 WT is a nice compromise.

Cheers,
