Default Crawling Valley

We went out to C.V. yesterday. Weather was perfect. Light breeze to raise a small chop. The problem was the algea. It really has bloomed since we were out at the end of August. We did manage to find a few spots on the lake that were relatively free of the stuff and ended up catching 8 pike. Three were keepers. One of the keepers had swallowed a two pronged bait hook and had the leader hanging out of its mouth. The hook had been there for some time as it was rusting. Since the hook was in its gills it was also bleeding a bit. I suspect it ate a smelt at the end of ice fishing season. It had just about starved to death so we put it out of its misery. It's going to take a while for the lake to clear up but if the weather hold so might the algea.
