Default Return to Green River, UT

So what did I do for our May long weekend, went way south
It was time for a return trip to the Green River. That awesome river I discovered totally by accident back in 2015. Also a trip through some of the amazing country located just below our province. Me and wife went to Yellowstone, went through Wyoming, Utah and spent a good amount of time in Arizona. These pics are very high, highlights. There are literally hundreds of things to show but I'll keep it short.

Yellowstone Park pics
Amazing mineral flows and pools!

NatGeo quality

Contrasts of a boiling pot with over 200 degree water next to frozen lake Yellowstone

The "money" shot - Old Faithful

Animal life

John Wayne Country - Monument National Park

The amazing Green River at Little Hole at Flaming Gorge. I cannot say enough again about how good the fishing is at this river. I only fished the "B" section and touched on the A section. Most the A section upstream of me is coined the "Aquarium" due to the huge pools, crystal clear water and viewing of hordes of rainbows, cutties and browns. There is an average of 20,000 trout per fishable mile...yes, 20K. I focused on the B section which is a mere 8K-12K per mile of trout. Browns take over here and are very hook smart. They see a lot! I still find it hard to walk by 1000s of rising snouts to get to the holes you want to fish. This place is really something. Some of the amazing fish this river gives up - rainbows to 40 inches and over; around 20-25 lbs, a record cutthroat at just over 31 inches! And the river record a...drum roll....a 40 inch, 29 lb 12 ounce brown trout. Oh, and there are brookies but no one cares about them. And massive, massive rocky whites.

Pics of the fishing and area:

Some average sized browns. All caught on the dry. Mostly with a terrestrial - beetle. So visual!

One awesome platform to cast from and watch the takes

I got into some amazing bows on the dry as well. Biggest one was pushing 6 lbs.

Nymphing I caught this massive Rocky White which was 3 inches across the back. I'm guessing pushing 4 lbs. It really was something to see.

Video of a caught brown:

Many garter snakes around. Watched one take a grasshopper at my feet.
Ran into this longer snake...probably a garter but was over 4 feet long...little creepy...
