Today was better than yesterday. Landed 24 (group of 6) as a whole. Lost multiple others. Seeing lots throughout day. Hard to make commit. 4 over 75. One newby landed his first ever!! 78cm. One more day and it looks balmy for the morning! Good luck to all and thx to splako for the hooks!

We're having ok luck, we've moved a few times now all throughout the north side around 8 or 9 so far and 3 were over 75cms.. Water is really, really murky up here but we're powering through it. Biggest was 31.5" and I just caught a 29" in 23FOW (we're messing around in different depths.) We've been marking non-stop but these stupid storms keep rolling through and I don't think it's helping the cause. F&W said we're the only ones having luck it seems.

Did pretty good just off one of the fingers with 4 keepers (all thrown back) and all fish caught were 28" and up aside from 1,

and the ice heaves aren't as bad this year

Met that guy that lives in that lake access only cabin (NE side) that bombs around in the lifted SUV - pretty nice guy, came and checked on us in the AM to make sure we didn't die on the ice!

Other person pictured there is user: kingshow (brother-in-law)

Just love this lake to pieces!

Went on Fri/Sat/ Painfully slow. Caught 4 between the wife and I. Two of them caught at the same time..........one in the tent and just as soon as the hit in the tent I heard the Jaw Jacker go off outside. Just rigged up a herring with a single hook and treble stinger for the Jaw Jacker.........first time I used one since purchasing. Sweet tool...

Saw lots of fish on the flasher.....but they were not committing. Used the typical Cold Lake special, airplane jigs, white spoons, silver spoons, mRapala clackers..........nothing seemed to get their attention enough to swallow. They were rebuffing everything..................except for the Cold Lake special and a herring on the Jaw Jacker. I know what they are not biting lol. What are you guys catching them on?

I have a RAM 2500 diesel............it was difficult plowing through the snow. Had to resort to shovelling once.........after that I made sure we had enough momentum to cary us through deeper areas. Trying to follow others tracks was more difficult than cutting our own trail.

This was the first trip I did where I didn't have good luck with the CLS, only caught one (in 25FOW) at 29" on it.

This trip I brought my camera because I wanted to know why ppl have wen saying it's been slow; every hole we punched and put the camera down, the water was super murky with 3-5' of visibility. So because of this we switched tactics and used attractant as well. All the holes we punched were near the fingers and towards the island (northside).

As for the lure I was using, it was a 7" swim bait and they were being inhaled.

25FOW! I see guys fishing that shallow and I think they must be fishin walleye/pike/perch. I usually fish in between 100 - 150FOW........and they are always at the bottom

We were just trying a bunch of depths to see what we find - pretty mobile species if you ask me. This trip was also the first that we spent a lot of time in under 100FOW. We camped at 57' and had no issues catching them.

Misconception is deeper is better but really you just need to find some sort of structure and you'll do very well.

being winter with the water temps they are able to roam into the shallower areas chasing bait and such because the temps are more evenly spread unlike the summer where they can only live in the depths where the temp suits them. and i think thats where the missconception of always deep comes in.
